As long as your Alexa works they will connect to it by Bluetooth. **Q: Is it actually 100W or 100W equivalent?** A: It say 100w equivalent. **Q: Can I use it outside on the entrance roof?** A: I am sure you could synch to work within a reasonable distance from your Alexa but I would NOT do that because these bulbs are scrap and do not stay synched and to have to climb a ladder to deal with that would be a colossal pain in the rear **Q: Do these bulbs work without the Segland app?** A: Have you tried resetting the bulbs by turning them off and on 5 times and the bulbs should blink 3 times. Once they have been reset to factory. Try to re-discover the bulb on the Alexa App. Also on the App you need to select the Bluetooth bulb in order to connect on the sengled app. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works exactly the way I’d hoped, no extra app required *by P***E on October 28, 2023* I could not for the life of me find reviews that talk about operating a smart bulb with a wall switch. Now that I’ve tested this one, I can do it.I have a lamp in my TV room controlled by a wall switch. I’m fine with that and want to keep it that way. That is, until I get comfortable on the couch with the cat sitting in my lap. I don’t want to have to get up and turn it off. That is where the Sengled bulb and the echo come in: “Alexa, Light 1 Off”.When I’m ready to leave the room I say “Alexa, Light 1 On”, and my way out of the formerly dark room is lit. Then, when I leave the room, I use the WALL switch to turn off the light as I’ve been used to doing for years. The next time I go to the room, I turn the light on with the WALL switch and it comes ON, which is what I wanted.Even better, it comes on at the brightness level it was last set for. I chose the 100W equivalent bulb which I normally run at about 50%. I get the same light level as the old bulb, but I have the option for more light when I need it (such as when cleaning). “Alexa, Light 1 to 100%”. I use that a lot.To be clear, this is the Bluetooth light that works only with Alexa. I’m okay with that as I’ve been an Echo user for a while now, and I’m already signed up. All of the other smart bulbs I considered need some app downloaded, an account set up, and linking the app to Amazon. I need that like a hole in the head.I absolutely love that this bulb can be set up without a third-party app. That is worth a few extra bucks to me. I was up and running in a couple of minutes. The setup isn’t totally glitch-free (largely due to the Alexa app) and Alexa sometimes says the light isn’t responding (even when it does). I can overlook that because it works anyway.I am so pleased, I bought additional 100W equivalent bulbs. One is over the dining table where I like it to be dim most of the time. It is great to be able to get more light on demand without using dimmer switches (which I don’t have). I wish I'd bought them a long time ago. I used to love the flexibility of 3-way incandescent light bulbs, and I wanted something similar for my living room table lamps and decided to try these smart bulbs. You can get an app for your phone and control the bulbs with it - brightness, on/off, etc. They work great, and should last a long time.
