Very Best of Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66

by my favorite artist from his early years! What's not to love!!!???

It's nice to have most hits in one place. The quality of sound on CD is absolutely enjoyable.The only hit that I could NOT find in this collection was, "Watch What Happens"

This is a great collection of the Brasil'66 recordings. I have been a fan since I first heard them on AM radio back in the late sixties during their heyday. I have all the lp records and the remastered cd's. This collection highlights all the albums except that only two selections are available from "Fool On The Hill" and that is disappointing. That album has some great gems such as "Upa,Neguinho" and "Laia Ladaia", both of which I feel should have been included. A couple of selections that I felt could have been left off are "Stillness" and "Righteous Life." I was not too enamored of the album "Stillness" but several selections of that album are good standouts and they are included in this collection. My favorite two albums of Brasil'66 are "Look Around" and "Crystal Illusions" and both are well represented. The title cut from "Crystal Illusions" is also missing and that is a loss. This is a good purchase for new fans and long time ones as well. Sergio Mendes and Brasil'66 deserve a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I enjoyed all these tunes including the ones I had never heard. Good quality recording.

Back when the group was first charting its hits, I found myself enjoying their unique sound. I bought an album, then another, and another. Over the years I would find myself dragging their albums out and playing them when I wanted a mellow, relaxing mood. For some reason, as did many of us then, I moved on to cassette and then to CD, replacing many of my older albums. For some reason, I never did so with Brasil 66. Hearing some of their songs on the radio in recent months, I decided it was time to get that error taken care of. This collection is a great start, featuring all their hits and many of the best songs of their albums. It's so good to listen to them again, since my record player and my album collection have disappeared over the years. Great to see they're still around on CD.

AsI said in reviews of other Brasil 66 cds I think they are the best cover song group of all times. They can "steal" a song by putting their own spin on it. My fantasy album would be "Brasill 66 covers the Beatles." The two girls are fabulous vocalists and Lani Hall hits the high notes and the ooo's at just the right times. I never thought I would like a Cole Porter song, but Brasi's verrsion of "NIght and Day" is now one of my favorite songs. Instruments likewise compliment the vocalists with lots of good stuff including bongo drum rolls and Sergio's melodies on the electric piano. The digital remastering is of exceptionally good quality. Lots of music for a great price.

Contains about 80% of their entire output from the 1960's. If you need a change of pace recording this one will sweep you away. Many top 40 hits here. Remakes of Beatles classics,Fool on the Hill,Day Tripper,With A Little Help From My Friends,Norweign Wood. Out of this world Scarborough Fair,Going Out Of My Head,Wichita Lineman,Nite and Day,The Look Of Love,Chelsea Morning,For What It's Worth,What the World Needs Now,Easy To Be Hard,Sometimes in Winter all heavy radio play. Then there is the Portugese BossaNovas and Sambas. Every cut is well thought out to the very last note. Lani Hall's vocals perfection.One night Johnny Carson had them on for a half hour,blew everyone's mind. Also recommended, Brazil 65, Wanda de Sah singing beautifully. Go ahead emerse yourself in the afterglow of the 60's.

I guess I should have bought the Cd of the LP I had back in the day. Knew all the songs by heart. Nostalgia!
