Hubsan H301S Spy Hawk RC Airplane with FPV (White)

The motor is tilted by design to minimize prop counter torque. Flys very well in stabilize mode. A bit squirrelly in manual mode with any wind and my moderate skills. FPV is a bit of a let down. Range only extended for 120 meters. Antenna properly placed and facing plane on open beach no obstructions. Radio control extended well beyond that but never allowed plane more than1/4 mile because afraid of control loss and poor visibility that far out.could not get retUrn home function to work properly. It has fly in circle mode and fly here in circle not explained on directions. FPV was a let down, cool to see but I could not fly the plane FPV because of poor visibility of screen in full sun and small size in the shade. Did not try reading glasses and that might have helped when I tried flying in the evening when the screen was shaded but in sunlight it wasn’t an option with my skills. Was flying by sight not the camera. It is cool to look through flight recording and that worked well. Glides very well and 30 minutes flight time Is a reasonable estimate especially if you Power down and glide part of the time.Good plane, flys well; fpv screen a bit too small to fly fpv. Fpv range poor.but radio range is good

I will preface my review by stating the following.Prior to purchasing this plane, I had never before flown an rc plane, and while I have used fpv setups with stuff like RC cars and Tanks, I had not ever used fpv on a plane.So to start, this thing is truly a no hassle all in one package, the controller has all the useful telemetry that you could hope for, there is plenty of functionality there and the small screen is crisp and very responsive. I barely get any static when using it (it works better than some fpv goggles me and my friends use)The flight characteristics are very docile on stabilized mode and I recommend this for any beginner! It took my second hand launch to get it in the air, however when this thing takes off it wants to stay up and I found it more difficult to get it to drop in altitude given how well this thing glides!Gliding with this thing is fantastic and the common practice of climbing to altitude and gliding the rest of the way is a very relaxing and fun thing to do with this plane.The plane also can be quite zippy if you apply a liberal use of the throttle and it really shows when climbing against the wind.I also should touch on the excellent fpv signal quality that this thing boasts, it is fantastic and if you surf YouTube, you will find people taking this thing up to some really long distances.Now during my whole learning process I did have some rough landings, and the fuselage weak area is the rear part of the wing as it tapers down into the tail, twice I had the foam crack and almost break (entirely my fault) however my electronics were untouched and the damage was fixed by applying hot glue and reinforcing the area with clear packing tape. After this the plane flew as good as new!If you are a beginner this is it! You have a robust Return-To-Home functionality and an excellent fpv system, this plane has definitely got me hooked into the hobby and I am eager for the weather to clear up so I can resume flying.So go ahead, try it out and see for yourself how good this is.

A very awesome GPS airplane. When flying this plane you can rest easy knowing that when you might loose sight of this plane that you can hit return to home and the plane will fly right back to you. I would buy this as a gift and if I ever need a new plane I will buy it again.

Hubsan Spy Hawk - 5 starsAdorama's Shipping/packaging/pricing - 4 starsHubsan did an amazing job with this plane. It is very durable and has withstood several crashes/crash landings. Video quality is exceptional. I have not tested its range, working on nearby flying first. Easy to fly (or to learn how to fly) it. I have been able to get 20-25 min. of flight time and still have a little juice left in the included battery. So far I have hit 40 mph with this plane. The controls are responsive and well set-up. I bought this plane when Adorama Camera was the seller. Their price was $499.99, and this product arrived within about a week after purchase. The packaging was great except for one of the sides to the sun visor had broken off, still works but doesn't shade as much. Over all it is a great product, and Adorama did a great job. HINT: Buy this plane when it has a lower price (like $499.99) NOT when it is almost $1700.

This is a good setup, though admittedly not perfect, but what is. One negative review mentioned the plane's tendency to climb. That is true, but easily solved by adjusting the connection to the elevator. The other mentioned the wing coming off - also understandable, but easily fixed by putting a small screw in the post that connects the plane to the fuselage. These sorts of minor adjustments are second nature to even semi-experienced RC plane fliers.Granted this plane is marketed as being for beginners, so it is easily argued that it should be "beginner-proof" and it isn't. But again, it could be said that even kites aren't "beginner proof." In most cases you need someone experienced to help with your first flight to help get everything properly trimmed. Once it is, it's a lot of fun. Beyond that it's long range FPV right out of the box. So, the bigger the park, the better.
