Does it make a good receiver....yes. Does that use waste a good transceiver.....yes. I love my 7300. **Q: can i add mars mod** A: Yes you can add the mars mod. Just google it. It's just a diode or two to be cut out. It will also allow you to transmit on 630 meters at reduced power **Q: Is an external power supply needed? If so, which power supply would be best? Thanks** A: A 13.8 volt DC external power supply is required - it should be rated for at least 20 amps continuous duty. There are several different types of power supplies - linear and switching - either will work.
