In the photos it looked like it was mounted to the hinge of the rear door, but it wouldn't have fitted a flag pole if I'd done that. However, once I found the right spot, added some threadlocker and tightened it down, it was very sturdy. One note, this kit comes with an allen wrench that only fits the small bolts.
