Review: When you look at what you get here for what seems like a shipping cost alone....consider yourself fortunate to have such opportunities. My use was to allow access to a newly installed shutoff valve on a buried water line after I reburied it. Of course this could be any kind of buried line in which you placed a junction, which might fail or require access. I also placed this over buried SharkBite connectors in the Pex water line; those connectors must be wrapped with silicone tape to deter corrosion and are a weak link in a buried water line. These boxes look so nice at ground level! Very professional. Six inches across at the top is standard. The very sturdy box, with simple cutouts for a line on two sides, is some nine inches deep - good for sprinkling system maybe but not deep enough for my water line, but, you think I want to look for a deeper one that costs more? Heck no! I just put an upside down plastic plant-holder down first (you could use a plastic bucket, maybe a water gallon container, just put dirt around the outside and cut a hole in the top big enough to reach in). After filling to that level, then place this - it went right over half of the plant bucket - then fill in around it. Maybe a little insulation inside if you worry unnecessarily. Now, when I open it after easily mowing over it, it looks like a two foot deep chamber down there, and arm length suffices to reach and turn the valve. You couldn't easily replace a line splice through this box; you'd just have to dig it up. But, it marks the spot for you and makes it very easy to check for and detect any future leaks! Review: Added an another buried sprinkler run and used it for the connections. Plenty of room to add a three way connection. Opens and closes with ease. I orderedd 6" lids that looked identical to mine. Same company and markings on it. Most people would assume a 6" lid should fit a 6" box. Problem is, not a single seller i've found on here gives both the inner diameter and the outer diameter, or I.D. and O.D. I figured they were standardized. They're not. I now have 2 lids that sit almost perfectly on my 6" box, but there's no way they will fit down into the top of the box. I measured the I.D. of mine again and it's just over 5.5", like yours. I guess they mean 6" I.D. but they don't say, and returning them will cost more than the product. If you find the right size let me know please. I'll do the same.
