The legs and main body is made of metal though the adjusting knobs/elements are plastic. While its not the most sturdiest of stands (I wouldn't trust this stand to take any beating) for the price it gets the job done, and pretty decently at that. Adjusting the stand isn't hard and once set there is no sag.
