I'm planning to use it for musical equipment.** A: No, this isn't a switched power supply, it doesn't provide or condition power, it's just good hard-wired lighted switching. Perfect for a rack of gear. I have this after my main power source which is a TrippLite Smart1500 rack mount Uninterruptible power supply so if I lose power it will keep things powered up for a period of time and I can save and shutdown my setup properly. The TrippLite also provides conditioning and voltage regulation, perfect for sensitive gear, always provides a steady 120vac even if the incoming power is as low as 75V or as high as 147v, it's still 120Vac that your gear will get. If it goes beyond either extreme it will shut down. This TrippLite also provides 8 outlets so that's helpful unless you need individual switches. After the UPS I have this rack switch and from there various pieces of rack gear get switched individually so I can power on only what I need at the time and power things on in the order I want them powered on in - this does matter with some gear and this switch works perfectly for this. I actually have three of these rack switches and the setup is basically the same for each, in the other two setups I use a Furman AR1215 voltage regulator and a Furman M-8Lx instead of the TrippLite. Both of these units will provide good conditioned power, but the AR1215 being a regulator also provides a steady 120Vac. The M-8Lx only provides conditioning (for spikes and line voltage crap.) So more to the point of your question, No this switch doesn't condition but any of the three other units I just mentioned will provide conditioning. They might seem like a costly addition but I've never had a problem with them and my gear is very happy. If you have sensitive and expensive gear to power up it pays to give it good regulation/conditioning. I've never regretted spending the extra bucks on them.
