Review: The absolute best of the best! - I had researched packs for years before deciding on the J-79 Skycrane II. I wanted the best load-bearing system I could find that was adaptable to any environment I wanted to use it in. I wanted the best. What I got was even better than that, the ultimate load-bearing system on the planet! One really can not grasp the level of quality and thoughtfulness of this gear unless you open that banged up, nothing special, unmarked box, and pull out this masterpiece in tactical engineering. If you are looking for the only load-bearing/tremendous capacity pack system you will ever need for the rest of your life, this is the pack. Not being in a combat zone, I am unable to test that last statement in the harshest of environments. But what I do know is that I research carefully, and purchase gear for the most extreme conditions one might encounter tactically or out in the wilderness for a hunting expedition. The materials alone, and the attention to detail with every stitch, are impeccable! Not one thread or mistake can be found anywhere on my pack! And believe me, I examined it slowly and in great detail. The materials used are rugged. I love it. It is a part of me. You will understand that statement once yours arrives and you dial in all of the adjustments to fit your body perfectly. I actually giggled out loud when I took it out of the box to play with it. **Q: Does it come with the g1 little brother or you have to buy that seperate?**
A: The little brother comes with the pack, already zipped in!

**Q: What is the empty weight of the pack?**
A: The Eberlestock Skycrane II is a modular load bearing system consisting of three primary bags: the basic J79 pack (6lbs 12oz), the pull-out G1 "Little Brother" pack (4lbs), and a removable fanny/courier pack (1lb).  These components comprise the basic system, with a volume of 4475 cubic inches and a total system weight of 11lbs 12oz.

**Q: Why would you also buy the spike camp duffel with this? Is there a place to attach it to the bag, or would you use it in place of the little brother?**
A: The little brother bag can be unzipped and the spike camp duffel zipped in over it. Then the load bay at the bottom is connected to the top section via the compression straps. Additionally the little brother bag can be removed totally and the spike duffel can be used solely. Buying the spike camp duffel adds 2 more configurations to the J79. Hope this helps. Look at the you tube vids. They will sell you on buying it for sure. I use it all the time.

**Q: Is this pack compatible with the Eberlestock F1 Mainframe?**
A: No. 
The Skycrane has it's own Aluminum stay frame system. You can build something similar to the Skycrane by zipping 2 Batwings to the Mainframe  and the zipping the G1 Little Brother in between those.

I wanted the best. What I got was even better than that, the ultimate load-bearing system on the planet! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEAST

What can I say, when I see people's BOB on youtube or elsewhere I have to laugh now that I have this thing. Seriously though this is a great pack. Whether for military, backpacking, range, or SHTF situation this thing is a BEAST. Superb in construction and design Eberlestock is a winner all around and I'm so glad I found there website. Well thought out and easy to use in a modular sense as well. Carrying about 50 lbs in mine right now and it's as comfortable as carrying 50 lbs on your back for extended periods can be (the waist strap uses your hips and legs to distribute the weight properly). The only thing is it's more comfortable and wears better with the sheath attached however if you don't put something in the sheath it tends to rock from side to side. That could be bad news for someones back if they have it flopping around like that for too long. I like to carry my gun anyway and I use the sheath for longer tools and such to store...(camp axe, machete, entrenching tool). Multicam is a great camo too and goes well in many situations, I also purchased the saddle bag for the front of the pack, it fits perfectly there and Is great for storing clothing or something you may need to throw on or take off as the day and temperature's progress.
