Plug it in, the app asks to access it. Grant access, and while it's launching it often asks again. Grant access again. Once app comes up, click "Camera." Be careful how you are holding the phone, as this will be the image orientation. You take some pictures and let the phone go to "sleep." You wake up phone to take a picture, the app asks for access. (Really?) Okay, grant access (again, watch out how you hold the phone). Now you may get the menu screen of the app, or you may get the camera view. Take some pictures. Phone goes to sleep, and a few minutes later it's picture time again. Wake up phone, app asks for access (Again??), you hold your phone correctly so that landscape isn't portrait and portrait isn't landscape, the camera view comes up, and it's out of focus. Are you kidding me??) So you press "Done," relaunch the app, grant access, and finally get to take the picture (good thing I wasn't trying to get a shot of that purple elephant dancing the samba in the Place VendΓ΄me in Paris -- I would have missed it). So now I need to use my phone for other tasks. The app, sensing that the drive is still plugged in, asks for access. I press "Ignore." Sixty seconds later, the app asks for access. I press "Ignore." Sixty seconds later the app asks for access. You realize that the only way to stop this madness is to unplug the drive.Spend a day sightseeing with this drive and you will find your jaw hurts after awhile from gritting your teeth so much.I guess I should have know what I was in for the first time I launched the app and it said "Data loadin . . . ." I have had a love hate relationship with this device since I first got it. It said that it would work with an iPhone 5 it did not! It did work with my iPhone 6, so I was happy for a few minutes. This device is great for storing photographs and music. You can also store digital files and videos. You can also take photographs directly to this device. It seems to work fine doing all of those. My big issue now is that it will not except Video being filmed directly onto it. So if you do not have space on your phone to first film your video, you will not be able to film directly onto this USB drive even though that is supposed to be a feature of it. I unfortunately found this out while trying to film my son's first wrestling match, after four minutes I got an error message saying my phone did not have enough storage - keep in mind, I was NOT recording onto the phone I was recording directly onto the DM device. Then the device would not let me stop filming, and suddenly I had a buffering symbol in the middle of my screen that would not go away and I had to cut the phone off to get control of it again. (See the pictures I've included.) So, if you expect to go on vacation or sit in a lecture, or a concert or whatever and film directly on to this device you may run into problems. Consider this device strictly for storage. If that is all you need, then this is a gem, and I highly recommend it for just that. You need the DM Airplay app. Found out when I tried on her iPad, it downloaded automatically. Works great but would be nice is the app allowed file management on the flash drive.
