The box it comes with is pretty sturdy though **Q: What is the thickness of the copper?** A: It’s a little thinner than a penny. You can bend it with a bit of effort to adjust to fit a particular glass if the curve is off a touch (rare you would need to) but it’s not so thin that it will deform easily or crush in your pocket. I would never put it in a back pocket but it always did fine in my front pants pocket, snuggled around my keys or billfold. I would compare it to the malleability of 12gauge copper wire (aka Romex electrical wire). I love mine. **Q: Does anyone know if this fits a standard size coffee mug?** A: It works best on a standard pint glass...they are about 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
