Review: WORKS SURPRISINGLY WELL!!! - I was not expecting to like this mopping tool before I ordered it and when I opened the box I was sure it was going to be returned based purely on it's appearance. The thing is only 7"x7" and it looks too tiny to really do anything. I was however quite surprised on how well it works. We have 3 different types of flooring throughout our house consisting of vinyl sheet flooring, engineered hardwood and carpet. The kitchen (11"x16"), breakfast nook (11'x11') and all of the 2-1/2 bathrooms are vinyl. The entrance foyer (8'x18') is engineered hardwood. Before using the Braava in either of it's wet modes, it is recommended that you thoroughly vacuum or sweep the floor because the Braava is only made to mop floors, not to vacuum or sweep them. If you don't vacuum or sweep first, you will wind up pushing small debris around the room and creating a mess. The first test was to tackle the breakfast nook. I used the invisible wall mood to prevent Braava from going into the kitchen which adjourns the breakfast nook. Rather than having the Braava maneuver around the table and chair legs, I flipped the chairs over and put them on top of the table and pushed the table to the far end of the room. As the Braava did it's zig-zag pattern in the room, I re-positioned the table a few times to keep the table legs out of the path of the Braava. The breakfast nook is a perfectly square room and the Braava completed the task perfectly. The last thing it did was to go around the perimeter 0f the room to get all the edges. Our carpeted family room adjourns the breakfast nook on one side and the Braava did not go past the edging of the carpet. Job done perfectly!! The next task (after recharging) was the kitchen. Again, I set up the invisible wall to prevent Braava from going back into the breakfast nook. I was amazed as the Braava began it's job. It began going the length of the kitchen and when it got about 12' into the room it made a u-turn and came back to where it started. It continued the zig-zag overlapping pattern until it completed the first 12' of the room. It then traveled beyond the first 12' and began a zig-zag pattern in the opposite direction until it completed the entire floor. It then spent considerable time going in different directions until it eventually covered all of the edges of the kitchen. It was actually interesting to watch. When it was finished, I gave a close inspection and found that it had cleaned the floor as good or better that if I had done it by hand with a mop. I had intentionally let the floor get dirtier than I normally would knowing I was going to be testing the Braava and it passed the test with flying colors. As to exactly how it works, I think that the iRobot engineers put a lot of thought into the design of the tool. It uses warm water only and the cleaning agent is in the pad itself so I don't think there will be a clogging problem with the jet in the future because of residual cleaners. It uses so little water, I will probable use distilled water in the future to help prevent jet clogging down the road. The pad itself vibrates to help the cleaning action, similar to the action of a hand-held sander. With the wet mop pad on it, the Braava moves in a Y pattern much like you would do using a sponge mop or swiffer. When you put the damp mop pad on it, the Braava only goes forward and back and squirts less water on the floor. This is what I used in the foyer on the engineered wood flooring because I do not want too much water on the wood floor. The third choice of pad is the dusting pad that uses no water and causes the Braava to got in a continuous forward zig-zag motion. The Braava senses which pad you are using and operates accordingly. One of the things that surprised me was the size of the battery. When I unboxed the Braava and saw the battery, I thought that it was going to be the weak point of the tool. The instructions state that it must be charged for two hours before using and it probably took pretty close to that on the first charge. When it finished the first 11'x11' room, I put the battery back in the charger and it only took about 15 or 20 minutes for it to get back to full charge. The only caveat I would add to this review is that it works extremely well on smooth floors without high and low spots. I would imagine it will not do as well on heavily textured tile or stone floors especially if they have deep grout lines. I have seen other reviewers say this and I can fully understand why. My wife and I are both in our eighties and the Braava is definitely going to make our lives a lot easier.
Review: LIFE CHANGING for people who are OCD about having clean floors (love it so much we bought two!) - This machine is the most amazing houseware I have ever purchased. I don't say that lightly. I originally bought this guy to wash the bathroom floor in between days when I steam mop it. I'm OBSESSIVE about keeping the grout in my master bathroom clean and the floor debris-free (plus I have a health care issue that sort of dictates that the bathroom be kept as clean and sterile as possible) and I really felt myself being pulled toward scrubbing the floor daily. That's not good for the bathroom or my back (I was born with Spina Bifida), so I thought I could get this little robot and have it wash the floor for me so I wouldn't feel like I needed to be scrubbing daily. The Braava works wonderfully. It's NOT a deep scrubber- it won't get your grout white after years of grime, and it's not going to take the place of a regular deep clean. It WILL clean all smooth surfaces (tile, laminate, vinyl, etc.) and it does pass over the grout enough times to moisten it and get up any debris. I run it twice with two re-useable/washable pads (order those separately, Roomba makes their own, but we do have third party ones that are fine, too). As far as tile, I rinse the re-useable pad and then before the machine runs, I spray a little puddle of anti-bacterial Windex or Scrubbing Bubbles on the floor in the robot's path, so the pad soaks up the cleaner as it goes by and then cleans the entire floor with it. You can run the robot in water-only mode, but I like using a cleaning agent. Here's a trick- if you are worried it's not hitting all the surfaces in your rooms, get a washable marker and leave little dots around the areas you want to make sure get hit. If the robot washes those areas, you'll know because the mark will be gone. If not, you can use the mobile phone app to instruct the robot to deep clean that specific area (plus the marker wipes up with a little bit of water). The surprising thing about this cleaner is something I didn't even consider when i bought it- dry cleaning mode. There are swiffer-esque pads available (disposable) and they get up EVERYTHING. Hair, fur, seed, dirt, sand, crumbs, dry cat food, etc. I wasn't expecting to use this machine in any other way except for the wet scrubbing mode in my bathroom, but I loved the dry sweep mode so much I bought a SECOND robot for our great room and I literally start it up in the morning with a dry sweeper pad on it and leave it running all day. It goes through the kitchen, entry and living room and whenever it cycles out, I just move it to a new area and restart it. I get several hours of cleaning from one battery charge. We have four cats, two birds, plus my thirteen year old and my husband (both who shed more hair than the cats it would seem, which kinda grosses me out...) so there's always something on the floor no matter how many times a day we vacuum and "zip up" with the stick vacs. So now we just have this guy running and even with us vacuuming daily, it still gets up enough stuff to gross me out and want several more of these, to run in little formation, all over my house. We also use it to clean the laminate floors- out of all the combinations we try the best is either using one of their disposable wet pads or using a dry re-usable wet pad and spraying a bunch of Bona on the floor in front of the unit when we start it. There *can* be a little streaking, but I am okay with that- I'd much rather have that than have gross sticky spots of that weird and disgusting oily/waxy bloom that we get with other cleaners. I have never had a product that I have found so useful and time saving and life enhancing like this one. If you're a clean floor freak, you HAVE to get this. Order a bunch of re-useable/rewashable wet pads and a bunch of the disposable dry sweeper ones. JUST GET THIS. (sorry for the all caps scream-y yelling thing, but I can't recommend this enough.)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well
*by E***9 on July 23, 2020*

As other reviews state, this is not for scrubbing or deep cleaning. It's probably not heavy enough to scrub. When it stays connected to the app, it does a great job. Mine has been getting repeatedly disconnected from the app, so I changed my rating from four to three stars. I just move all my furniture out of my cramped kitchen and let this bad boy do all the work! Yes, it goes around furniture, but I prefer to move mine. It even mops perfectly all the way around the door stops that stick out of the walls! It also goes on the sides of the toilet in my (small) bathroom. It will not fit behind my toilet, though. It performs exactly as stated. It has a "lighthouse" feature that creates a virtual wall if you desire. You have to do that each time you clean, but it's easy: just hold the button down until the horizontal lights come on. It creates only one virtual wall per cleaning session, though, so you have to figure out which way to face it. It will not go behind the virtual wall. The only issue I have with it is the water tank. It's hard to tell whether it's actually filled. I wish I could see inside or that there were an indicator like on a clothes iron. Also, before I connected it to the app, it was spraying as if it were damp sweeping, even in wet mop mode. But after downloading the app and connecting the Braava Jet robot, it now sprays so much water that it saturates the mopping pad and leaves a wet trail behind itself. Luckily, it doesn't show any streaks on my floors, but it might be a problem with other kinds of floors. It's definitely a slipping hazard in wet mop mode. You have to let the floor dry to make sure you don't slip. Before I had the app, the floor would be dry instantly in wet mop mode. The app shows three different levels of water release for mopping, but no matter which level I selected, it still left the floor wet. I'm wondering about quality control now. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Or is mine faulty? I ordered a replacement because of the spraying issue. The second one kept getting stuck, so I kept the wet trailer one. I would say that if your machine keeps getting stuck, order a replacement and see how that goes. The one I kept has never gotten stuck. I also am disappointed that you can't put any cleaner in the robot, so you have to keep buying their single-use wet mop pads or spray the floor with cleaner if you're using a washable pad. But they do offer a cleaner that they say can go in any of their mops, so maybe that will work well with the washable pads. Some people have said they would just use vinegar instead of water in the tank, or a mixture of water and vinegar, but even diluted vinegar can corrode things, so I'll only do that to descale it if the sprayer stops working. To prevent the sprayer from getting clogged, one could use distilled water. Bottom line: I'm looking forward to getting an improved model in a few years, but for now this thing is awesome and well worth the ~$110 I paid for a used one. It didn't even look used. The only thing is that not all the pads were in the package. That's worth a $60 savings to me. Finally, I think that some people who were not satisfied with it must not have swept first. It's common sense to sweep before you mop, so that same reasoning should be applied here. I had the robot do a sweep mode before the mop mode, and it worked out great. This robot does a great job at dry sweeping, damp mopping, and wet mopping. I am considering purchasing another battery and charger so I can sweep and mop my small bathroom and small kitchen all in one go. If you have a large area to mop, you'll probably want to buy an extra battery and charger.
