I do wish the subtitle of the resource would not use the words, "Develop your skills to heal yourself and others." regarding the practice of Reiki. My understanding is that our "skill" as practitioners involves getting out of the way to let Reiki flow. The implication is that Reiki is something we do and get better at as we apply our own abilities. I know the author does not mean this. I trust it was a marketing decision made by the publisher. I have read a lot of William Rand's work and appreciate his work deeply. I know he would be the first to agree that healing is accomplished by the Reiki and not us and that we are still necessary to the process.As far as the quality of this material, it is well done. The material is high quality and there is nothing "cheap" about it. The DVD and the CD are professional and pleasant to watch and listen to. The organization and amount of content is on the level of other resources costing three times what is being charged here. I think it is a great value.As far as the content, what can I say? It isn't what I would consider perfect or communicated just the way I would like to see it, but I do think by far it is a worthy resource and anyone with an open heart and open mind will benefit on many levels for having interacted with it. It is so easy to criticize and tear something down. What is hard is to put yourself out there and give what has been given you to pass on. This comes across from the author very clearly. I experience his sincerity and wishes for the highest good fo all. I applaud any effort to be faithful to the power and the wonder of this amazing modality for healing.I give thanks for this resource. I am glad I ordered it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful resource *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2014* I am doing my Reiki Master Teacher training -- and bought this to complement my other course materials The book is an easy read but more detailed than my training. The cards are helpful in mastering the hand positions and the instructional DVD is great for showing not only the positions but also explaining the purpose and ways to adapt them. The guided meditations and the musical selections are excellent because I can always find one that is best suited to my mood or to what I want to accomplish while meditating. Rand's voice is rather grandfatherly and soothing -- and I have suffered through some guided meditations narrated by people whose voices were so grating that meditation was impossible. The only thing that I didn't like about the DVD was each hand movement being in its own section that was just a few seconds long. It was a nuisance to keep using the remote just to advance from one hand position to the next -- you cannot practice the positions while listening. This system is a great companion to formal Reiki training, but I would not recommend this as a starting point. It would not have made much sense to me had I not previously given and received Reiki. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Reiki students and teachers of the Western lineages *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2006* I have used William Rand's book as a text in my classes for over 11 years so I am familiar with his work. It is all good. This package is the best of the best.At the time I first wrote this review, this was true. I no longer use his book or teach in his lineage. This is a good book for students of the Western style of Reiki - those who trace their lineage through Mrs. Takata. I DO NOT recommend this for my students since I am not teaching in a very different lineage.The DVD and accompanying book are a wonderful supplement to Westernized Reiki training. I've been a Reiki Practitioner since 1986 and a Reiki Master Teacher since 1005, and I learned a lot. His explanations are clear and interesting from the Western Reiki perspective but not aligned with the Japanese tradition.The last chapter of the DVD is a distant healing from William, and it is one of if not the most powerful Reiki healing I have ever experienced. This healing alone is worth the price of the package. I recommend it to everyone who wants to receive distant Reiki healing. The three meditations on one of the CDCs are also excellent in healing from a health challenge.This product is appropriate for those who are teaching and studying in the Western or modern lineages of Reiki.
