It starts as a course [sic] 120 grit then grinds down to a fine 220 grit. To thin the compound, add a few drops of water. **Q: What is the grit of this compound? Is this a total of 12 3-oz tubes, equaling 36 oz of compound? Thanks.** A: I inquired with Permatex Technical Services: Both 80036 & 80037 are "...a mixture of four grits – 120, 150, 180, 220. As you begin using the compound it starts off as 120 and as you work it it ends up as 220." The difference between 36 & 37 is 1.5 and 3.0 oz tubes. **Q: what material is this made with? most lapping compounds are made of either silica carbide, or diamond powder** A: Silicon Carbide **Q: Is this applicable for pet clipper blades, stainless steel, I need have a very slight concave?** A: I don't know if it will work on the clippers .
