The contractor was just not professional enough to know that this was supposed to be treated with sealant to prevent the oil and other stains being sucked up by the stone what ended up on the wall while cooking. I have not spilled anything directly on it but it is normal when food is boiling on the stove to have humidity and stuff evaporate... A have suffered removing the residue. Didn't dare to cook again and ruin the wall again. After I have treated the tiles with this product nothing sticks in/on the tiles any more. I can truly recommend. Would do the job with paint and kitchen counter as well. However it made the color slightly darker, which I do not mind. Its nice and even. I need it for concrete kitchen countertops.** A: I used two coats of the 511 Impregnator Sealer on the white grout between my porcelain floor tiles in my kitchen. Despite frequent cleaning, it wasn't long before the grout became discolored, until now where it is black. Would the 511 Porous Plus be more effective in keeping the dirt out of the grout? If I should apply the Porous Plus, how do I prepare the grout after I clean it? **Q: How many sq feet does a pint cover?** A: It depends on what you are sealing. For slate, flagstone and Saltillo about 250-300 sq. ft. per quart. For polished stone--granite, marble --likely 1000 sq. ft. per quart. For slate I use about 1 Qt. per 300 sq. ft. A bit more with Travertine. It does a great job. I recommend their cleaner prior to sealing. A Pint of the cleaner goes a long way. Hope this helps. **Q: How do you use this?** A: I used this to seal marble tile and grout. I had used another product in my other shower which worked fine with my kitchen granite counter tops, but marble and grout are more porous. After applying this product two time with paintbrush and then wiping down five minutes afterwards with moist towel, my shower was sealed real nice. I even went back and re-did my other shower. I found it best to pour a little bit in cup and apply in uniform direction with brush and wiping down in same direction.
