## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used to cut appliqué patterns on fabrics?**
A: This is just the replacement blade for the gyro cutter we carry which is used to cut very thin 4mil mylar plastic material and would cut paper.  If you are looking for cutting something thicker then this would not work

**Q: How often does the blade need replacing when cutting paper only?  When cutting cardstock only?**
A: We would recommend changing your blade when you notice the line is not as crisp.  It really depends on the thickness of the card stock also.  We find if you are using it everyday frequently on thick heavy card stock a more frequent change of twice a month may be required.

**Q: Is there a way to sharpen the blade? If so, how?**
A: As far as I know, there is no way to sharpen the blade. It is so small that it would be difficult, if not dangerous, to try to hold it and sharpen it. Honestly, if you love it so much that you need to sharpen it, I'd invest in a new blade from the company and feel confident you will get the sharpness you require.

The Gyro-cut takes a bit of getting used to, but once I found the rhythm, I find it indispensable for my art journalling. I have used it enough that it is getting blunt. Hence the replacement blade. I plan to have a spare set on hand at all times as I can't do without this nifty little tool. Just keep working at it and you will get the hang of it! I find that if I turn the blade before I start so that the lowest point of the blade is in the paper when I start, with the slope of the blade back towards the handle, it makes cutting so much easier. You'd think it would go that way naturally, but I make sure, and since I've been doing that, I have far fewer problems.
