But it should work when they soften up, or if you break them into smaller pieces (but avoid letting anything too powdery fall into the water. Food powder will sludge up the tank real fast.) However, it's not a growth formula, so if you can find something with a smaller pellet, that's a little higher in fat and protein, that's what I'd recommend. (I know that's not easy though!) Either way, it'll be sufficient and safe, but not my *ideal* choice.
