Review: Good for writing and drawing. - This is a great mechanical pencil you can feel the quality when using it. I have used many different mechanical pencils over the years for my fashion Drawing and artwork/writing. This one l am very impressed…recommended 👍🏻 Review: The retractable tip is a game changer! - I have used many drafting pencils (Rotring, other Pentels), but the GraphGear 1000 is my favorite for carrying around. The standout feature is the dual-action retractor—when you clip it to your pocket or notebook, the tip automatically retracts. No more stabbing myself or bending the fragile metal sleeve! The grip is unique a mix of knurled metal and rubber ovals. It gives you the precision of a metal grip without it being too harsh on your fingers during long writing sessions. It feels premium, heavy, and well-balanced. Highly recommended for students or architects who need a durable daily driver. Pros: • Retractable tip protects the lead and your pockets. • Grip is comfortable (metal + rubber). • Solid spring-loaded clip. Cons: • Slightly top-heavy compared to the GraphGear 500. 100% get what you pay for, totally worth it Size is perfect, easy to grasp Write speed is another level ✨✨✨ ## Features - 0.7mm, extra-fine lines, Refillable - Lead hardness indicator - Finely chiseled metallic grip with soft, latex-free pads - In the package printed manual in Japanese - 4mm fixed sleeve ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0013NHU7Y | | Additional Features | Retractable | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Age range (description) | Adult | | Animal Theme | no animal theme | | Best Sellers Rank | #10,450 in Office Products ( See Top 100 in Office Products ) #75 in Mechanical Pencils | | Body Shape | Round | | Brand | Pentel | | Brand Name | Pentel | | Closure Type | Retractable | | Color | Blue | | Colour | Blue | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 8,682 Reviews | | Drill Point | Medium | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04902506185334, 04902506188397 | | Grip Type | Ribbed | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Hardness | 0.7 mm | | Included Components | Mechanical Pencil | | Ink Color | Blue | | Ink colour | Blue | | Item Diameter | 0.7 Millimeters | | Item Dimensions | 10 x 150 x 9 millimeters | | Item Weight | 20 g | | Line Size | 0.7 Millimeters | | Manufacturer | Pentel | | Material | Metal | | Material Type | Metal | | Model Name | gear | | Model Number | PG1017 | | Pattern | single item | | Recommended Uses For Product | Drafting, Drawing | | Style | 0.7mm | | Theme | Drawing | | UPC | 787718248251 072512198087 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Water Resistance Level | Not Water Resistant | | Writing Instrument Form | Mechanical Graphite Pencil | | Writing Technique | pencil lead | | Writing instrument form | Mechanical Graphite Pencil | ## Product Details - **Age range (description):** Adult - **Brand:** Pentel - **Colour:** Blue - **Ink colour:** Blue - **Writing instrument form:** Mechanical Graphite Pencil ## Images ![Pentel Graph Gear 1000 Mechanical Drafting Pencil 0.7mm Blue (PG1017) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71T57qkGPuL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: What hardness of lead comes with this pencil?** A: It comes with an H. I replaced this with my preference. An excellent pencil for sharp, clear lines. **Q: What is the difference between this (PG1013) and the PG1013E?** A: I think they are same. PG1013 is for selling in Japan. PG1013E(Maybe, E means for English persons) is for selling in the US. **Q: how do you refill leads into it?** A: Pull off the end cap that exposes the eraser, then put out the eraser and drop the lead into the opening. **Q: why does it NOT accept new lead? what am i doing wrong when trying to add new lead that was made for it?** A: Hello. The Pentel Graphgear 1000 comes in a variety of lead sizes. .3,.4..5,.7 and .9 mm. Please make sure you have the correct size for the pencil you have. Once you do, I load the lead from the top by removing the cap, then the eraser. Lastly, I drop a piece of lead inside of it. I work the action until the new piece has gone through and ready to write/draw. I then place a few more into the top and put the eraser and cap back on. I hope it works for you, because this is a very nice mechanical pencil. If not, then I would resort to the other suggestions, which I have never had to do with this mechanical pencil, but I have on many others. Good luck. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for writing and drawing. *by S***S on 1 June 2023* This is a great mechanical pencil you can feel the quality when using it.
