After the straightforward handle project, you're up and running, learning deeper concepts than most probably learned in an introductory CAD course.Pros:-The illustrations are completely comprehensive- The steps are very clear and easy to follow-Completed CAD models are available on the publisher's website for every chapterCons:-There are a few very minor spelling errors-The chapter header font is hideous (that's not nitpicking, it should be illegal)As a bit of background, I learned to CAD in NX by the book as an undergraduate student and picked up SOLIDWORKS with the general knowledge I got out of that. After regularly using SOLIDWORKS for a few years, I started working on a project that needed to be aerodynamic. I realized I wasn't good enough with sweeps, lofts, and other similar geometry, and looked online for some resources. There are plenty of instructional videos available on YouTube, but none really covered enough that I felt like I could accomplish what I needed to do. I ended up getting this book and working through it. The author did a very good job identifying where most people's skill level is if they've been using SOLIDWORKS for a while, but never doing anything too intense. The 2016 version had TOO MANY misleading steps and errors. I can’t believe these errors weren’t corrected for the 2017 version. The author and publishing company needs people to go through each step so they can see all the misleading errors they have in this book! All of my classmates HATE THIS BOOK!
