## Questions & Answers

**Q: I tend to rage alot and punch keyboards ive went through 3 this year should i get this?**
A: I don't punch my keyboard but I occasionally (and instinctively) slam my hand down at the bottom of the keyboard or slam the mouse down onto the mousepad if something gets annoying in a game, yet both still work fine after almost three years. I'm not sure if that's part of why the middle mouse button (button 3 in keybinding) is broken or why my keyboard's LEDs have dimmed (some of them must be broken), but the keyboard and mouse still work fine and the LEDs for the keyboard are dimmer but not gone.

**Q: What's the difference between this and the mark 1?**
A: The Mark 2 has "memchanical switches" which is basically a membrane keyboard that sounds and "feels" mechanical. The way they are made makes it easy to even put on your own Cherry MX Red keycaps if you happen to have some. Thats the biggest difference

**Q: Can you turn off the leds on the keyboard or do they stay on the whole time?**
A: The LEDs on the keyboard can be turned off, but I do not think the LEDs on the mouse can be turned off.

**Q: How long will the back lights last on the keyboard, my only worry**
A: Ive had this keyboard since Feb 9 of 2015. So going on about 2 and half years. SO far the leds have not gone out at all. ive left it one for weeks at a time and some times leave it on at night "perfect nighttime light haha" i love the keyboard. Im about to get another one i have the original devastator. Ive worn out the WASD keys on it, probably put in about 2000 hours of gaming so its to be expected. Its a great keyboard for under 30 bucks. I went through Logitech keyboards about 1 a year so i can attest to its worth

Most of what I was looking for

One of my big technology upgrades this year has been the switch to backlit keyboarding. I have this feature available on one laptop and decided I wanted to make a foray into the USB keyboard variety. I’ve been watching a lot of Silicon Valley (the HBO series) lately and noticed that they have a green backlit keyboard in the incubator house. I wanted in.At $30, this is well priced combo!Pros: For the most part, the equipment feels great. I really like the feel of the keyboard and action of the keys. The mouse is comfortable and looks great! You get some bright green down the middle and around the mouse wheel. It’s also up front (and looks very cool), but that’s hardly noticeable to the user. I was also really drawn to the keyboard’s appearance. The green LED lighting makes it appear as though the keys sit above a pool of green. This is a really cool effect that I did not notice in other models.Cons: There are a few setbacks here. Reviewer YK makes a great point about the dimness of the lighting--but you can’t really tell from that top-down picture. These keys have clear etchings where key functions are shown. This should work decently with the backlighting feature, but it is best viewed top-down. When typing normally (looking down at a 45 degree angle toward the keys), lighting can be dim. In some cases, I am tilting the keyboard or leaning directly over to make out the keys.Another big drawback is that the lighting is controlled by the Scroll Lock key. Normally, I don’t even think about Scroll Lock. But this key will activate both backlighting AND Scroll Lock. As a heavy Excel user, this was a bit of a pain point. With scroll lock on, my arrow keys will scroll around a spreadsheet without moving my cell selector. I’m used to using the arrows to move the selector. It’s a smaller issue that can be worked around. I’ve mostly been turning the backlighting off as needed. This makes typing a bit more challenging, as the clear key markings really don’t stand out well over a black keyboard.Last observation--the mouse wheel has a chunky feel to it. It’s much more stiff than many mice I’ve used (Logitech, Microsoft). I wouldn’t necessarily say it bothers me--just a difference to be noted.

Alright, so I will start by saying that this is an entry level keyboard, it's for those who don't know which major brand to go for yet, but want the feel of a mechanical keyboard. The feel of the keys is similar to a cherry brown switch (that's what it feels like to me) and the sound is a little quieter than a cherry brown switch. I got this in red, the color is very deep, but if you aren't looking at it from directly above the brightness of the back-light seems to fade off. The keys have an almost soft plastic feel to them, with a mate finish. The reflective plastic bits are absolutely beautiful, but attract finger prints faster than a phone screen. The mouse feels pretty nice, its responsive, and just seems to fit in my hand (your experience may vary based on hand size and shape). The 3 DPI settings are nice, I find that the medium setting is good for most uses. The inclusion of a forward and backward button on the left hand side of the mouse is very useful. The mouse wheel feels very nice, but mine started to squeak a little bit after a few weeks, but the squeak isn't terrible in my opinion. My one big gripe with the mouse is that if your like me and use a laptop, when you close your laptop and your computer gets put into sleep mode, if you leave they keyboard back-lighting on, it shuts off, but the mouse doesn't, and I find that kind of annoying.Pros:great entry level keyboard for gamingkeys have a very nice feedback to themmouse is responsiveback-lighting is very usefulCons:its not true mechanicalyou cant change the brightness of the back-lightmouse wheel squeaks after timeOverall i would recommend this keyboard if you are just getting into the mechanical keyboard market.

After using it, there are definitely some things I would like to see improved. Also:screen lock activates LEDs. This is regular among gaming stuff but if you punch spreadsheets you may not like it.Things CM can improve on:First thing:Software support and tuning. Razer's Synapse is so nice to have and use, and I would like CM to have some software.Second: Keys are very loud, but easily solved by lifting off the key slower. Its not that annoying and still within most mechanical keyboard's noise levels.Third:Add white outlines on key lettering for better daylight visibility. Lights are the only option to know what key you are pressing. Also, add differentiation on WASD keys so they are easy to find-different texture or shape so that its easily found or color because many gamers will be using those keys more.Fifth: Expand the viewing angle for the key lights, they are mostly effective from straight down but any other angle and the light isn't there to illuminate the letters. If the keyboard is far away the light doesn't shine as bright through the letters because of the small letters. Making the letters bigger would alleviate the issue. Now on to my opinion of the keyboard:the switches are good. They do a good job. They don't feel like a pure membrane but its definitely not a mechanical keyboard. It is definitely more mechanical than a membrane but you will still feel the membrane mush at the end of the press but in every other fashion it is like a mechanical. I like it. YMMV. I like the media and sound buttons are a nice touch and I applaud CM for putting them in there. This is a good keyboard and will last awhile. Now the mouse.......its actually impressive! It really is a nice mouse, the clicks aren't hypersensitive or feel like sand. The scroll wheel is tight and is tactile(considering price) and the clicks are tight as well. No wiggle side to side in the scroll wheel. Definitely punches above its price point for quality of construction. However I do have two complaints: the weight of the mouse is not as heavy as I would like, and it does have a medium lift off distance, which is just enough to get on my nerves. Since it has an optical sensor, putting a small piece of scotch tape over half of the sensor takes care of it. The lights aren't overwhelming and the scroll wheel is lit up which is nice. Adjustable DPI is a nice touch and is lit up as well.Overall, an impressive package from CM. Buy confident because of their customer service, but know that you are spending 30 bucks on a gaming keyboard AND mouse. Can't expect Razer levels of comfort and durability but for the price point it demolishes any gaming keyboard option below Razer.
