R-value up to 15.67 ( with one layer), up to 21.10 ( with two layers). **Q: Good to keep the heat in? Fig I could use it to cover my window** A: It should work either way **Q: Has anyone used this over crawl space vents to keep it warmer during winter?** A: It would work well, cut 3/8" larger than both dimensions and press fit. I should caution you, unless you are having a problem with freezing pipes, you should never close the vents in the winter, moisture will collect on the underside of the house above the insulation causing mold.
