Review: 10/10 - As someone who knows very little about routers this was the one everyone recommended to me. It was very easy to set up, great signal and covers our entire house. Have had for over a year now and never any issues! Highly recommend, glad we listened to everyone!
Review: Be careful with add-on app Armor! - The modem itself was great. My problem was a 7 day trial of Armor turned into a nightmare! It is made by Bitdefender which I have their Total Security installed on all my devices. A great company. But, having Armor on my router felt very intrusive. Somehow, I either clicked where I shouldn’t have while trying to delete the darn thing or I didn’t click where I should to prevent auto acceptance. I do not know to this day how it came about. I found I did not like having notices from Armor pop up whenever a new person or device was registered as linking on. We are a 2 person household. I do not need to know if my husband opened his ipad. When my large family was visiting I thought the the router might have a spasm with my 11 grandkids ipad-ing and iphoning. I live in a rural area set way back from the road, few neighbors, on dead end street. Not much room for router lurkers to get near my router. I have internet security and did not see the need for Armor. I only called to cancel Armor. They opened a case file..big deal. They couldn’t or didn’t have the answer. I was connected to another group and a second case file was opened. After much back and forth, I asked a simple question..How do I get Armor off the router because I’m not paying $105 for it. I was directed to another group and assigned a third case file..At this point, I “lost it”! I cancelled cases, deleted my account, and returned the Netgear AX 4200 to desertcart. BTW, I’m still getting emails from the 3rd case file :) Please consider this caveat….the device is speedy and worked well for the two days I used it. I hated to give it a lower rating due to Netgear’s horrible tech support. So beware of Armor. It maybe helpful for those folks who live in highly populated areas; but for me, it was DOA

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the ssid name and password be changed so i don't have to manually change my 48 smart home devices one by one?**
A: Yes you can keep the same SSID and password from your previous router setup. You should power cycle all those smart devices so they can reconnect to the new SSID router. Also you seem to have quite a few devices, you should consider a Netgear Access point such as WAX218 or WAC540 those can handle over 200+ wireless devices and can run on POE+

**Q: Is this a good upgrade to a nighthawk x4? I am paying for 1 gig service but i am getting only 550mbps over Wi-Fi.**
A: Frankly, I gave up on the nighthawk x4 and went to eero 6 pro. The night hawk just had to many problems.
The eero was easy to install. It has functioned very well and on 600MPS service I get about 620MPS. It does need a gigabit switch if you have more than one item plugged into your router.

**Q: Why does my connection keep reverting to 1.2Gig a second speed using my ax210 and ax211 adapters? I have to restart router each day for 2.4Gbps**
A: It might be your provider! Spectrum caps internet speeds if you don’t use their crappy devices that you are also paying a monthly fee to rent. I had a tech out here and he told me that unless you use Spectrum’s modem and router you wouldn’t get any much than around 1gig , he did say that there is a work around for getting what you’re paying for, but wouldn’t tell me. They just installed fiber optic all over my neighborhood, and I am absolutely sure that they will get my business as Spectrum is trying to monopolize on the fact that they are the only service except for DSL, which we tried and it was terrible. It’s all coming from a satellite anyway, so either they couldn’t afford better quality Satellites or they didn’t want too.

I’ve owned 3 different NETGEAR routers and modems and never had any issues with them, except for the fact they outlived the newest technology and they had to be replaced. Im a firm believer in owning my equipment as the stuff the provider rents to you is junk! I also have had several issues with Motorola modems and burning them up. I can’t just get NETGEAR at any local store and if they have it, it’s way overpriced.

Overall, I’ve been extremely happy with NETGEAR, however I wasn’t exactly happy with they did a firmware update on my Nighthawk X10 and I was robbed of one of my streams for some 60Ghz band that I don’t have a clue what it’s for or was suppose to be for. That was an expensive router and had plenty of ports, like 6 plus link aggregation.

**Q: Would this work with cox internet? i will be getting their top internet choice that’s $100 a month**
A: Yes, because it's just a router. You only worry about the cable modem for activation.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well, and (with one hiccup) the setup was fairly easy.
*by C***M on March 12, 2025*

This thing is bloody fast! I had one snaffu while trying to set it up, however, as the Android app kept crashing on my phone. Once we switched to setting it up with my wife's iPhone, the setup became smooth as melted butter.
