**Q: I need to dig out the roots of an old climber rose bush, Will this shovel do the job?**
A: This shovel is excellent for digging in extremely hard ground, heavier than most with a wide flange on the top which makes it better to cut through the surface roots and compacted earth.  Like any tool sometimes it takes a lot of extra effort, soaking the ground before starting will help.  In my case I had too many very fine, hard roots down several inches even this shovel was not a good match for the job, I used a hatchet and limb cutter to get down initially then the shovel was great to keep going.  I recommend the Root Slayer and would purchase another if needed.

Thank you for your question. The shovel you are considering is perfect for bamboo removal. Please remember these are designed for cutting, using for prying could damage the handle or blade.

**Q: Will this still do the job of a regular shaped Round Digger Shovel? for example digging holes for trees/plants?**
A: It would do some limited digging similar to the rounded shovel. However it is not designed for that.  Save a lot of effort and just there is a good one on Amazon for 17 bucks.

**Q: Well this cut through large hostas to split and replant**
A: It should! It is very heavy duty! I have cut through tree roots with mine!

Great at digging up shrubs or into piles/bulk bags of soil. Chops through small roots ok. The handle is a good shape/design and makes moving the spade around easier than other spades
