My son is small, so the pillow was still wet when he had an accident with other "waterproof" cases.** A: They have prevented it from going into the pillow, and the one on my bed keeps the mattress dry **Q: What makes these "antibacterial"?** A: I suspect TIGHT WEAVE is the reason they are anti-bacterial too. They work against dust mites and bed bugs of course. By being water proof to some extent that too insures some barrier for bacterial development and slough off from the insect world and mites. I am allergic to Dustmites and feather pillows. I carry when I travel the Queen size or King which I will sometimes buy over the Queen and then shorten after washing to insure a little bit larger size which almost always works well with hotel and as a guest in peoples homes to descreetly cover their pillows and not mention it to them. It's saved me many a problem due to allergies and embarressments say if I were to happen to have a nose bleed which feathers can cause. So in that regards it's anti-bacterial to the hosts pillows too as it protects them from my body fluids so to speak. However using these or similar seems to protect me that it's never happened while using them. Also I'm allergic to some detergents and laundry and cleaning supplies so again motels may have a residue to their linens that also means I'm protected and perfumes too.
