## Description

Along with DJ Jazzy Jeff (of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince fame), DJ Cash Money was one of the incredibly skilled DJs to come out of Philly in the late '80s. Teaming up with Marvelous Marv, Where's the Party At? was released, the title being the result of Cash Money winning several turntable competitions and looking to celebrate. With their widely popular single, 'Play It Kool' backed with 'Ugly People Be Quiet', the duo came out of nowhere and won over audiences with raw skill and well-received humor in their music. By the late 80s, DJ Cash Money had won the DJ World Championship and had been named the Greatest DJ in the World. In 1998, Technics made Cash Money the first inductee into the DJ Hall of Fame. This is golden age Hip Hop at it's best!

    World's Greatest DJ!!

*by B***1 on Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2013*

Where's The Party At? is a bon-a-fide classic. It was released back in 1987 or 1988. I owned the vinyl LP. The tracks on this CD bangs. The tracks were ahead of its time like Mantronik's tracks. Cash Money was not only the producer but he was also the DJ. And a hell of a DJ he was. He was a two time World DJ mixing Champion. Due to his supremacy he was banned from competition after he won the second year in a row. This dude is the best transformer scratcher in Hip Hop. For those of you who may not no what transformer scratching is. It is when you break down your scratch and the sound of it sounds like a transformer transforming. This dude is also a showman he can cut the record with his elbow and his nose, stomach, flip and his butt. He can also make his scratches sound like R2D2 from Star Wars and TV Show Theme Songs. Absolutely incredible. He and Marvelous released a single called The New Sheriff In Town in which Cash performed the preceding scratches. Phenomenal. So if you are a true Hip Hop Enthusiast then the CD is a must.

    I Miss Those Days!

*by D***' on Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2011*

This was one of those CDs from back in the day that any collector of old school hip hop should have in their collection! It takes me back to a time when hip hop was about more than the size of my rims, how many hoes I have and how much dope I sling in tha hood! I was in high school when this album came out and a budding rapper myself, and I can remember rockin' this tape eveywhere I went! It was the originality of the songs that separate early hip hop from what we hear today. Songs such as Ugly People Be Quiet,Find An Ugly Girl, A Real Mutha For Ya and Play It Kool are the hits here, and they represent an originality thought process artists had to have back then. Today, rappers put their own spin on what is basically the same subject. Though they didn't have longevity, Cash and Marvelous put out a quality album that true old school hip hop fans like myself can turn to when we need an escape from the same ole-same ole of today's hip hop world. I can't give this CD 5 stars, but it is very solid and the song Ugly People is a classic. Coupled with the dying art of cutting and scratching and that old school party vibe, Where's the Party At? is a must have. Damn, I miss those days!!
