Mills (father, pianist, musician) house in the nightmare blizzard.Valerie let him know her mother Jillian Braedon was still out there somewhere.Bear (dog) would help keep Valerie company.After a while John found her. It looked like an animal had gotten to her also.John’s bad leg from a helicopter crash was killing him.Ryan Mills (4, son), & Victoria “Vickie” Mills (wife/mother) had died.Sandstone. Once in the house John stitched up, treated/bandage parts of Jillian.John watched as Valerie was comforting Jillian as she seemed to be having seizure fits.FBI SA Kevin Brewster also showed up at John’s doorstep. What news did he relay to John?Jillian shared her life story with John.With John’s help Valerie had learned to play the piano. She was also getting sort of homeschooled.FBI SA Brewster, & FBI SA Timothy “Tim” Barnes were back to search John’s house whether he liked it or not.What did Jillian (29) reveal to John?Fairshire. This could also make another great medical thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV. Thriller, Sci Fi, mystery, but whatever it was very good with the exception of a few chapters that took place in the small shack. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Interesting Read *by T***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016* What I liked best about this book was its manner of storytelling. At no point is the reader hit over the head with clunky exposition. The story (and the characters) unfolds in its own time. I liked the plot, the characters, and the paranormal elements. I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 because, as much as I enjoyed the book, it felt like it had potential to go even further. A longer, more fleshed out version of this book, perhaps with more back story, more character development, and deeper internal conflict would have engaged me even further. Don't get me wrong, I liked what was written, in fact, so much so that I wanted more. SPOILER ALERT: Exploring the turmoil and the question of existence from Andrews would have been compelling. I was aching for a confrontation between Andrews and his god (or even John, for that matter). It seems the other FBI agents would have been struggling with their lack of memories as well, leading, perhaps, to questioning what their mission was really all about or whether they should continue? John wrestling with guilt over falling in love again, not only with Jillian, but with Valerie too, while still living his life mourning his wife and son could have been interesting. Learning more about Jillian's origin story and what she went through after undergoing her transformation would have been satisfying and could have added more dimension to her character. Learning more about the relationship of the monster to Jillian; how Valerie stumbled on singing to help with the monster (and why it works?); and finding out if Jillian's brother really is dead, would have been very satisfying. The ending, from the hospital on, seemed rushed.
