(Question for manufacturer / seller)** A: There are three reasons why other salmon oils have additional tocopherols (sometimes called vitamin E) 1) Most salmon oil is produced by using chemicals and high temperatures during extraction, these extraction methods are used as they generally have higher yields. Unfortunately, this extraction process also damages the natural nutrients within the oil, as well as natural antioxidants, and can cause it to go rancid faster. 2) Other salmon oils come with a pump separate, which you need to attach yourself; as soon as you open the bottle you add oxygen, which starts to make the oil go rancid. 3) Higher quality salmon oil has a more orange colour; this is a clear sign of more natural antioxidants. Never had a problem! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dog’s Fur is much softer *by R***. on 15 March 2023* I have a first generation mini labradoodle who has quite rough, wiry fur and weighs about 13kg. I’ve been giving her 3 pumps of oil with both her meals each day (she gets meat with a side of raw veg such as carrot, cucumber, brocolli etc and I pump the oil over the veg which she really loves as always eats her veg first!) I’ve been giving it to her for about 6 months now and noticed her fur was feeling much softer after about a month of use. She does has a faint smell of salmon about her sometimes but it’s not too bad. The reason I’ve only given 4 stars is that the pump leaks. Another reviewer has mentioned this so I think it may be a design problem. It seems to sit in the screw top area and leaks out. I had bought a previous bottle from a pet store and this had a slightly different pump which didn’t leak so I swapped them over. Obviously not ideal when the manufacturer is saying that no tocopherols have been added because the pump is sealed and no oxygen can get in! They’ve obviously changed the design of the pump but I don’t know if the one from the pet store is an old or new design. I’m going to buy my next one from the pet store if it has the pump design that doesn’t leak. I also find that as the level of oil gets low it’s harder to pump the oil over my dog’s food as it needs to be held vertically in order for the oil to be pumped out and it’s obviously a bit tricky to do this when you’re trying to pump the oil over food. Besides these problems I’d recommend this oil as my dog seems to thrive on it. I’ll upload a photo of the pump style that doesn’t leak (bought from the pet store, not Amazon!)
