Review: Worth it - I admit, I was reticent to buy it refurbished. But it's been working magnificently since updating from an i5 (the performance boost was noticeable from that start), no issues in several months I've had it. Totally worth it.
Review: Great CPU! Make sure your mobo and bios are all up to date! - The irony is that I was only looking to replace my gaming controller but then I fell down the rabbit hole and the next thing I know I had spent an obscene amount of money doing and extensive upgrade to my trusty old rig. Either way the plan was to deck out my current build to its max so I can coast through the next few generations till prices adjust. The motherboard I had picked for my budget build had plenty of room for upgrades and I decided I would max it out so there would be no option than to build a new PC from scratch the next time I am forced to upgrade. This CPU wasn't a smooth ride initially. Until recently I was suffering from random reboots without any explanations or error notices (no BSODs either). After much testing and re-inserting/replacing hardware it came down to the motherboard being faulty. Since having replaced it with an Aorus Wifi Pro, this baby sings and is capable putting out better performance than the previous mobo withot any tinkering in the bios. The i5-9400f was a pretty capable cpu so I wasn't sure what sort of improvement to expect gaming wise. Its mostly GPU dependent. But turning on my current game (Yakuza 0) the frame rates were a lot smoother than previous. Its almost distracting how smooth the edges of the screen move as you run by places. Given that this CPU is easily capable of overclocking and the new mobo provides a decent headroom for that I am currently set for games till 8k becomes a standard thing. All in all slapping this thing in with a good cooler, I was considering an AIO but I figure looking into the best of the air coolers possible and it turns out the Noctua NH-U12A was a great fit for my needs.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How good is it for gaming?**
A: It's very good but the 10th Gen and Ryzen 5000 processors are a little bit better. If you already have a socket 1151 board with a 300 series chipset then you might as well save money and get the 9900k.

**Q: So this 9900k with new packaging is still a 9900k correct? the 9900kf is in the same box but their labels don't differentiate from what i've seen.**
A: Yes, a 9900K is a 9900K. The cool packaging is gone because the 9900K is no longer the most awesomeness chip and has been replaced with an even more awesome chip. The packaging was kind of cool to look at, but in reality is was very much a gimmick and pain to open.

**Q: Does this have hyperthreading?**
A: Yes it does

**Q: Has anyone ordered this last week (Nov. 23-27) Delivery day is today, but have yet to be shipped, label created though?**
A: ordered dec 11, it's dec 18, expected delivery 28, paid for shipping but no update.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth it

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great CPU! Make sure your mobo and bios are all up to date!
*by D***S on March 16, 2021*

The irony is that I was only looking to replace my gaming controller but then I fell down the rabbit hole and the next thing I know I had spent an obscene amount of money doing and extensive upgrade to my trusty old rig. Either way the plan was to deck out my current build to its max so I can coast through the next few generations till prices adjust. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great OC despite R0 Stepping
*by J***Y on June 15, 2021*

Well I received the correct product, in the same packaging shown (not the large hexagon packaging that came with the initial release), this helped lower shipping costs which I appreciated! Despite feedback that R0 stepping 9900K's were not binned as well as their "KS" variant - I got this core to clock in at 5Ghz all core at 1.284v. Worked well with my Samsung B-Die RAM as well (@3600Mhz 16-16-16-36 timing). I got it to pass a 5.1Ghz all core OC, but the voltage required was immense at 1.38v which I wasn't comfortable trying to daily, maybe I need more time to tweak it but given the minimal gain it would be mostly for showing off than true performance difference. CPU Related Components: Motherboard: Z390 Aorus Ultra GSkill Trident Z Neo: 2x16Gb 3600Mhz 16-16-16-36 RAM Cooling: EKWB Monoblock, 240mm and 360mm SE Rads and some other stuff (see pic of RGB barf) Temps: Idle mid 20's, close to ambient. Under CPU Synthetic load mid to high 60's, when GPU is loaded as well (gaming) it will climb to mid 70's but that is because I've side mounted my GPU and my case is known for cooking GPU's anyway. R23 Score all core - 13240 @ 5Ghz R15 Score all core - 2134 (2153 @ 5.1Ghz, so not a huge bump at the expense of longevity hence not bothering trying to stabilise it) Given CPU prices lately I'm extremely happy with the purchase!
