Review: IT WORKS GREAT - They always seem to build good stuff I hooked it it paired with the phone easy and give me all the info I need
Review: Plug and play, makes monitoring much easier - Quick summary: this Bluetooth adapter is simple to install, configure, and use. The information it provides to a phone is very useful and much more convenient than going and looking at the charge controller. More detailed review: I have a Renogy Wanderer 10A charge controller, 50 watt panel, and a LiFePo4 battery to provide 12V power for lighting and a small fan in my shed. I wanted to be able to check on the system and verify it was working correctly without needing to go out in the shed and directly look at the controller, so I purchased this Bluetooth adapter. Connection is simple: it uses a modular connector identical to those used in landline telephones, so it’s literally plug and play. Pairing with Bluetooth on a 2020 iPhone SE is quick and easy, as is using the app. It provides all the real-time status in a convenient and useful layout. The range is enough to go about 30 feet through the shed and house walls. I did test it up to 100 feet away with no obstructions, but it was not able to communicate with my phone at that range. I suspect the range estimates are idealized and somewhat overstated. Useful feature: if the controller’s output is set to manually switch the load on and off when the Enter button is pressed, you can remotely switch the load terminals using the app. The only downsides seem to be related to my charge controller, not the Bluetooth adapter. The controller is extremely basic and doesn’t do any internal data logging or storage at all beyond saving the settings. Thus, the only information it outputs is just the real time status, which the Bluetooth adapter faithfully transmits. The app is capable of many features that this particular controller is not, such as renaming the controller and logging historical data about power generation, consumption, battery state and voltage, etc. I presume more advanced Renogy controllers would be capable of logging and sending that data, though I wish the app would hide the fields and options that the controller doesn’t support. Bottom line: if you have a Renogy controller and want to monitor it without needing to directly look at its display, this Bluetooth adapter is the way to go. In my case, the controller cost less than the Bluetooth adapter, but getting the adapter was definitely the right choice.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: shows the battery voltage & solar charge but the used by inverter and remaining hours is blank - how do i get this to read?**
A: This charge controller device does not monitor your separate inverter. Only the battery and the solar charge. There are 12 volt load terminals on the charge controller but those should not be connected to an inverter per the manufacturer's requirement. However turning off the inverter and monitoring the battery state of charge will let you know how much charge is left to get to the lowest recommended level of 20%. Full charge depends on the battery type: 12.7 for lead acid, 13.0 for AGM, and 13.6 for LiFePo4. If it shows higher that it is showing the higher solar charge voltage.

You can calculate the load on the battery by multiplying the amps of the 120 volt appliances by 10. Then divide the amp hour of the battery (times the current state of charge that this device shows less 20% ) by the 12 volt amp load to get number or hours remaining. Make sure you turn off your inverter when not using your 120 volt appliances.

**Q: Are there better instructions than the booklet that offers zero explanation of how the device and or the app works to properly monitor my system?**
A: Try Ytube it has some decent videos

**Q: Battery charging volts is set at 14.4v, but app shows max battery voltage at over 20v. is this normal? lifepo4 battery set to lithium on controller.**
A: Check to see if the over 20v is the voltage of the solar panel. It is normal for solar panel voltage to be near 20 v. The controller steps it down to 12 to 14.4 voltage.

**Q: Can it be mounted outside?**
A: I don't see why it wouldn't be okay outdoors. The unit is well sealed. UV exposure is my only unknown.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great add-on for Renogy charge controllers
*by W***Y on January 19, 2026*

I added this to our rover solar charge controller and it works great. I can monitor battery usage and incoming solar power anytime I’m within Bluetooth range and it has been extremely useful. Installation takes two seconds to plug it in and it’s on.
