The chord for the powered battery is wafer thin and will allow the battery door to close with no problem. You do need to be careful when handling the powered battery so as not to put too much stress on the power chord for the powered battery. There is a 9-volt ac ripple (measured with a Digital voltmeter) on the power supply that did not affect the electronics in my Halloween decoration. I measured several other power supplies, and they all had an ac ripple. My decoration depleted 3 batteries in 5 days on the 6 hour internal timer. This product works great and will save me 15 AAA batteries.
