First exposure was seeing them live at Johnny Brendas in Philadelphia, 2011, during the release of the 'He Gets Me High' EP. While I enjoyed the album 'I Will Be,' I found the sound on 'Only In Dreams' to be too repetitious.The 'End of Daze' EP caught me completely by surprise, not only with it's slicker production and up-front vocals, but each song has it own feel and sound -- while still satisfying the retro desires of the listener -- and the individual tracks fit an arc that rises with 'Mine Tonight' and lands perfectly with 'Season in Hell.' This EP is a soundtrack waiting for a movie to play beneath.Lyrics on this are also brilliant, in my opinion. Dee Dee's song writing continues to evolve here and continues to impress -- She laments a lost love on the penultimate track, 'Lord Knows' - "The bliss I found in ignorance/a slow burning of Icarus" and draws the listener right in. Is this a breakup record? Perhaps so, but overall any fan would be happy to take this ride over and over. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ End of Daze is solid *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 2, 2012* The Dum Dum Girls's new EP delivers! They manage to maintain their unique sound that we've come to love, while creating some new and wonderful tracks. "Mine Tonight" is reminiscent of their album "Only in Dreams", and it a great way to open this new EP. "I Got Nothing" really hits home with some fantastic lyrics. "Trees and Flowers" is the slow-dance of the prom, establishing an awesome atmosphere that the Dum Dum Girls are so skilled at doing. "Lord Knows" works much the same way. Just classic Dum Dums. "Season in Hell" is a great finish to this EP. This track picks up with more pep and determination and ends with the lyrics "It's the End of Daze." ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 7, 2012* The Dum Dum Girls are an amazing blend of retro Phil Spector wall of sound with alternative. They site bands ranging from the Ronettes to the Ramones, Iggy Pop, The Cure, Mazzy Star and the Jesus and Mary Chain as major influences. I was blown away by their Only in Dreams album when I first heard it last year and this 5 song EP is a great follow up. Stylistically, there's a better range of tempo on this EP giving the drummer a chance to break the monotony a bit and giving them a slightly more "mature" sound. Dee Dee's amazing voice is on display on all the tunes, she's the best singer in rock as far as I'm concerned.
