This instrument is amazing. I even used it with Studio One 3 and it works perfectly too . **Q: Could i use my own drum samples & instrument kits with this & do i need a interface ?** A: This is a USB keyboard controller. It does nothing on its own. You will need a DAW (digital audio workstation) of some kind (Ableton Live, Protools, Sampletank, Acid, etc.) or a midi synth/sampler for it to control. This keyboard and its relatives works from the get go with most DAWs so if you already have a program you use you should be golden, just plug in the USB cable to your music computer and get to work. Your program should allow you to assign the knobs to whatever parameter you want to tweak (LFO, drive, pitch, delay time, etc.), and the octave shift will actually give you an octave lower than a full 88 key keyboard. I love mine. **Q: does this come with usb cables?** A: Mine didn't. It uses the USB printer-type cable, which is called a 'type A to type B' cable, and they can be had for around $3.99 all over Amazon. BTW, very happy with the keyboard. **Q: How long does the software suite last?** A: M-Audio support here! All of the included softwares will not expire when using the codes in your account after the keyboard's been registered. It automaticly maps with almost evey DAW(even unpopular ones) and it has a great feel to the keys. The pads are a little hard to work with and terrible to record with because of the super sensitive velocity control, but the sensitivity is nice for the keys. As far as build, it's not the greatest, it feels very cheap, but it's hard to drop because of bulk, and it only weighs 4 pounds.
