In fact, most recipes have fewer than five ingredients, not counting salt and other staples.The book doesn't have any pictures or an index. In production value and "eye-candy", it is the complete opposite of a book such as Amy Traverso's Apple Lover's Cookbook. Some of the recipes are relatively comparable:Parsnip-apple soup in "101 Things" contains: onion, butter, apples, parsnips, chicken stock, cream, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch.Parsnip-apple puree in "Apple Lover's" contains: onion, butter, apples, parsnips, chicken stock, cream, ginger, parsley.But most of the recipes are definitely simpler in "101 Things". We've liked everything we've tried so far, including an outstanding red lentil soup with sweet potatoes and apples. But others are head-scratchers, such as an applesauce variation that uses cinnamon red hot candies.
