I didn't even know this tool existed. I had a bunch of baseboards to remove that was attached to old (1947) crumbly lathe and plaster so I needed a way to gently remove the baseboards without damaging the plaster. Once you score the caulk line (if it exists) to separate the baseboard from the paint gently tapping this tools thin edge gets behind the baseboard and starts **gently** extracting the nails. The further you can insert the tool behind the baseboard (or window/door trim) adds more fulcrum power and distributes the pushing power very gently. I had some boards that were original and the installer used REAL, thick nails. They weren't going anywhere. I took more time with these and let the tool do the work. If you have such a scenario don't **man-handle** and force it out using brawn. Let the tool use it fulcrum power, be patient and you wont damage the plaster. The only issue is the little hinge pin does sometimes slip out, so you gotta tap it back in. No biggie; you already have your hammer. And I struck this thing very hard, and it helped up really well.
