HP 7900s and IBM Loenvos running windows 7, core 2 duo at 3.1 Ghz. 4 gb ram. This gives great wireless results. The machines are fast (and cheap). I use Verizon FIOS at 25. I have one of these devices at 50 ft from the wireless router and one at about 30 feet. Then I have a third and fourth at 25 feet. Reception is excellent. Ran the Verizon Speed test. Further the distance, a little slower than 25, but I'll take 21x21 anytime. Have 6 devices on the system at one time, sometimes more when printers are included. Setup is, well, easy but not clear the first time. You install and then have to select the exe program. I had already tried one of these on an XP machine - worked great. SO when I bought the refurbs and went to windows 7, I knew how to do it. The reception seems much better and even than just the usb plug-ins I have tried. The position of the antenna does matter and the adjustibility is very useful. Verizon speed test lets you see the speed and the uniformity of signal. I have used USB extension cords with these and they work with that, too. I'm using an N network now; bought the new Verizon router and put it in five months ago. Remember that FIOS TV is on that router, too, so remember to get Verizon to recognize the new router or the cable TV goes wild. I have used the J -link for streaming vid.
