Pyro-Putty 2400 is a high-viscosity, ceramic and stainless steel filled repair paste designed for extreme heat applications up to 2000°F. It air-sets quickly in 2-4 hours and can be applied thickly up to 3/8", bonding and sealing metal components like exhaust manifolds, headers, and industrial equipment. ## Description

Pyro-Putty 2400 is a ceramic and stainless steel filled, high temperature, thermally conductive paste used to bond, seal and repair defects up to 3/8? in cross-section in cast iron, steel and stainless steel components and structures up to 2000 oF (1093 oC). Pyro-Putty 2400 is a single part, thermally shock resistant paste that will not decompose at high temperatures. It is a water-based material that contains no volatile organic compounds. It sets at room temperature and cures in-situ or by heating to 200 ºF for 2-4 hours. It can be machined and painted after curing. Pyro-Putty 2400 can be used to effect seals and repairs in exhaust manifolds, headers, mufflers, catalytic converters in engine applications as well as commercial and industrial high temperature systems such as turbines, incinerators, boilers, ovens, and furnaces.

Review: Garbage! - I used this "miracle" putty to the T per the instructions and it didn't hold up. I used it on a cast heat exchanger on a hot water boiler. For $49.00 you'd think it would have worked at least for a few days, NOPE.

**Q: would this product be ok on a piston face? just concerned about the pressures. cheers**
A: This would NOT work.  You need a new piston.

**Q: Will this repair a rusted out boiler wall, full water contact on one side and high heat from fire on other. Part #1.**
A: this product would not repair a boiler wall.  it is actually water based.  I use it mostly as a filler for scratched surfaces on heads and engine decks.  Personally I would weld the boiler crack

**Q: We have an antique car that needs to have a crack sealed in a cast iron exhaust manifold.  Which product, 2400 or 653 would be best for that?**
A: 653 has to be heat cured at 200 degrees after air curing.  2400 does not need the heat cure if the application temp is above 400.

**Q: Can this be used to attach a type k thermocouple to a pcb with a ceramic substate?**
A: I manufacture Thermocouples  from wire for PC Boards .  I think this stuff is NOT what you want !

I used it on the exhaust manifold and the flex connection. It held up for about 10 days, after that it is back to same. I believe it is due to extreme temperature variation (hot and cold) and vibration, the patch cracks and falls off.
