Review: Definitely worth a try - First of all, let me say that I don't actually believe in the whole "detox" thing. I don't have any facts, it just sounds like pseudoscience to me, especially when the author starts recommending those Chinese foot pads you can buy off the TV. I bought this book and tried this 10-day diet after several family members started it and would not shut up about how great it was, and how amazing they felt. There's a family wedding this month, so I figured, why not? It's better than the diet I'm not on, plus we just bought a nice blender and I want to play with it. My main goals are: 1. Weight loss, and 2. Breaking the cycle of eating unhealthy food. I have type 2 diabetes, poster child for metabolic syndrome. I don't eat well, plus I have been trying unsuccessfully to break my addiction to diet soda, after reading so much about how it affects your body, even if they don't know why yet. This book claims that following this diet for 10 days will stop your cravings for unhealthy foods. We'll see. Day 1, delicious smoothies, could drink this stuff all day, which is good because that's kind of the point. The one blip was, I took my regular dose of meal-time insulin with my morning smoothie, because while it's all greens and fruit, it's pretty high in (natural) sugar. Well, maybe because of the low glycemic index and slower glucose absorption, I ended up hypoglycemic after a few hours. Had to drink a glass of milk (which is a nono on the diet) to get back to normal. Plus pounded a bunch of nuts before I figured out what the issue was and thought I was just really hungry. Took 2 mag07 (colon cleansing supplement) capsules at bedtime to help move all the fiber along. No movement in the morning. Day 2, woke up slightly low blood glucose again, but just got started on my breakfast smoothie to correct. Smoothie again delicious, smooth sailing until dinner time, when I broke down after cooking for the kids and ate a small portion of pasta with tomato sauce (again, no no). Finally had a BM. Took 3 mag07 at bedtime, and lowered my long-acting insulin dose to avoid another low. Day 3, even lower blood glucose, another glass of milk to correct. Promised colon cleansing did not come into effect until mid-morning. At work. And today's smoothie is not good at all. I'm eating the recommended snack foods instead, hard-boiled eggs, nuts, fruits and veggies. Might try tweaking the recipe for dinner to see if I can make it palatable. I just don't like the combo of banana and blueberry. However, as of this morning I have lost 4 whole pounds (!), and something interesting has happened. I started drinking only water and green tea (which I LOVE, you have to try the Kirkland brand) with this diet, but this morning I forgot my teabags, and the Starbucks tea was way too strong and bitter to drink, so I gave up and just got my usual diet soda for my caffeine fix (you're not supposed to have caffeine, but again, I'm not here for detoxing). I could only get through about half of it when I realized that all I could taste was the artificial sweetener. I think that going even 2 days eating and drinking nothing but natural, wholesome food has already changed my palate, and pop just doesn't taste good anymore. Even if that is the only thing I get from this experience, it will be totally worth it. But I know I'll keep drinking these smoothies after the 10 days (just for 1 meal maybe) because it is a really delicious, efficient way to get lots of greens in your diet, which is so good for you. Day 4, another winner with peaches and berries, mmm. I think at this point I am doing the 'modified cleanse' which is 2 smoothies and one meal per day, because I ate dinner again last night, and I had some vegetarian chili for lunch (I was looking for vegetables but there are none to be found near my work today apparently). Lowered my insulin dose again last night and again had a low this morning. I guess I never realized how much my diet affected my baseline (fasting) glucose. If I continue this as a regular way of eating (which I will) I could potentially halve my doses. That's amazing. Ok, so yesterday was Day 10. Final results: I have lost 8.5 pounds, kicked my soda habit, and drastically reduced my insulin usage. I had an appointment with my diabetes doctor, and he said it would be fine for me to continue with the modified diet indefinitely, so I am continuing to make my smoothie in the morning and having it for breakfast/morning snack, with low-carbs goodies like eggs and nuts, and a nice salad for lunch, then a lean protein/veg dinner. So far, so great. I am not having uncontrollable cravings for unhealthy foods, and I don't have that deprived feeling you get with diets. I have "cheated" a few times, but it's not hard to get back on track quickly. I do feel better energy, and I can see a difference in the mirror, because it seems like a lot of the weight I lost was just un-bloating. I forgot to mention, the 8.5 pounds were lost the week before my period, so instead of blowing up like a puffer fish as I usually would during that time, I was actually slimming down. Nice! I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I will be doing it again if I find myself getting into unhealthy eating habits again. It was very easy, and surprisingly effective. One last thing: your poop will turn green while you do this, enjoy.
Review: Really Works! - I cannot remember what I was searching when I came across JJ Smith's 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse on desertcart. But when I saw it, something prompted me to check it out, almost like I was drawn to it. To provide some background on why I found this book so appealing, I've been suffering from some health issues for a while now, and doctor visits had only left me with more questions and no diagnosis. I've been slowly transitioning into all natural cleaning and hygiene products in an attempt to treat some of my symptoms. A smoothie cleanse to rid myself of toxins (with weight-loss as an added bonus) seemed right up my alley. Smith is a nutritionist, not a doctor. I figured since doctors had failed me thus far, it couldn't hurt to heed the words of a nutritionist! Smith begins by explaining what her green smoothies are and why the cleanse is worth trying. She details how environmental toxins in the food we eat and the products we use are basically causing our systems to shut down as we overload our bodies with destructive substances. Yes, we've heard it all before, but it needs to be hammered in to really take root. The part that hit closest to home was Smith's self-assessment quiz to determine if you're a prime candidate for detoxing. Of course, I ticked off a large majority of the symptoms, so I was one of the best candidates for the cleanse, according to the author. Despite my lack of willpower, I had reached a level of desperation, so I decided to take the plunge. Smith carefully lays out the 10 day cleanse program and important steps to follow during the cleanse. She names foods that must be avoided to get our bodies back on track. She provides an extensive list of greens to be used in the smoothies and the benefits of each type. Smith explains everything so thoroughly, you really can't go wrong. She even provides a full shopping list for picking up groceries and detailed recipes, so she's already done the work for you. She offers tips for success and an FAQ detailing a number of questions that might come up. My Results As of today, I'm on Day 5 and for the first time in my 36 years, I can honestly say I've stuck with a diet plan--if you consider it to be that. On Day 1, I was sleepy after a long night with an ornery toddler, so I was pretty grumpy and out of it already. This was also making me want to snack more so I was basically starving. But the smoothies were so tasty I was able to make it through. My only slip up was that I ate sweetened peanut butter for a snack where she suggested unsweetened peanut butter because I didn't have access to the latter. By Day 2, I received a full night's sleep so I was in better spirits, though still quite hungry. I got my hands on a jar of unsweetened peanut butter so I was able to stay on track. The smoothie recipe for Day 3 called for a banana, and I'm allergic to bananas. I decided since I was eating it over the course of the entire day instead of all at once, I'd see if it would be okay. It was for the most part, but it gave me a terrible stomach ache. When I saw Day 4 called for bananas, as well, I just added extra berries instead and all was well. I was still pretty hungry though and snacked all day. By today, my body seemed to have fully adjusted because I didn't feel like I was starving in between smoothies and made it through another successful day. It's half-way through the cleanse and I am feeling great. Other than desperately craving a cheeseburger like a crack-addict, I'm doing better than ever. I have lots of energy, my brain fog is gone, and I'm in positive spirits despite the fact I recently went off my antidepressant. I've been exercising, as well, so I feel stronger. Smith doesn't call specifically for exercise in the plan (though she definitely doesn't discount the value), but I was already working out so it was inevitable I would continue. I've noticed my muscle and joint pain subsiding, as well. Oh, and did I mention the best part? I've lost five pounds! The book doesn't lie! The author's smoothie recipes are pretty simple to follow. There are a few ingredients that might be hard to find in some areas (ground flax seed, for example) but overall, they can all be found at your local grocery store. The only complaint I have about the ingredients is the cost. Smith encourages use of organic ingredients as much as possible. If they can even be found in organic versions, which in my case weren't always available, the cost might be prohibitive. I spent a lot more on groceries for the smoothie cleanse than I would on a normal grocery trip. Once you factor in all the healthy snacks you'll need for the first few days you feel like you're starving, you come up with a pretty hefty budget. Just keep in mind it's only for ten days. I see no problem with being able to complete the entire cleanse, so I will trudge on. The author provides a plan for transitioning back to "real" food after the smoothie cleanse, complete with recipes for healthy meals. I've found very few diet plans that were as simple for the reader to implement and guided the reader as well as Smith does. Since purchasing this book, I've also purchased her 6 Ways to Lose Belly Fat Without Exercise, so keep an eye out for that upcoming review. I have a lot of confidence in this author and am taking her words to heart.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Run, Don't Walk to Buy This Book!!
*by B***7 on July 29, 2025*

First of all I just want to say thank you to J.J. Smith for writing this book and to the random stranger on Reddit that said this cleanse worked for them! I am amazed. I ended up losing 9 pounds overall, and I haven't had this much energy in what feels like years. Sure, my B12 shots and espresso helped, but this is a different kind of energy....it feels like it's coming from a deeper well, if that makes sense...I had all but given up on having that youthful energy. After working out week after week, trying to 'eat healthy',take vitamins, etc, I was stuck. I didn't have the energy to work out, and seeing no results was so discouraging. I felt like if I could just get a jump start and lose a little, I'd be more inclined to continue. I researched colon cleanses, juice cleanses, etc. Everything said they weren't really good for you, etc. I then came across a comment talking about this cleanse and it's reviews. I poured through pics, reviews and made up my mind to try it. I figured I can do anything for 10 days! I started on a Tuesday, (I definitely recommend starting on a Monday or Tuesday because weekends can be harder mentally for you to want to stick with it) and the first day was hard. I snacked though, on two hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper, plain celery and carrots. On day two I started adding the recommended non whey protein. That definitely helped with the following days. I lost 3 pounds the first day, two the next and 4 over the remaining days. It was hard being around people eating at first, but I powered through. Days 2-4 were increasingly better and by day 5 I was buzzing. I felt really good! Plus in my opinion the smoothies for days 5-10 are better. I have a glow underneath my skin, deep energy, better mood, my ADHD symptoms and brain fog are much improved. This also helped me be more accountable in drinking water because the water helped me stay full. I didn't do the bowel cleansing part because, for the first time in a while I was regular every day. It was solid also, which was a worry of mine. I believe the snacks helped in that respect. After my cleanse I've tried to maintain healthy eating habits and even had a big celebratory meal with my bf and have only gained back a total of less than two pounds. It did make me very aware that certain foods make me bloat and gain weight. Now I'm eating those in moderation. I've also added different smoothies as part of my daily routine. I can eat one for breakfast and maybe even lunch because it not only reduces my caloric intake but I feel full and invigorated. I have a different relationship with food and it has helped me to get back on track. I plan on doing a modified version for a while and trying the cleanse again in a month if I hit a plateau on my goals. One thing I think definitely helps is to try to chew your smoothies as much as possible, some are seedier and have more leafy pieces than others, but chewing helps you extract nutrients, feel fuller and trains you to chew your food better when you start eating solids again. 10 out of 10.
