## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do these have any arch support at all?**
A: I just took my tennis shoe to check! No arch support, flat. It has slight support on the heel and and near toe. Trick I did that works: use it on top of the original sole rather then take out the original sole and replace it. I have been using it for about 4 months and am satisfied.

**Q: Does anyone know how thin these soles are?**
A: They are not a single uniform thickness throughout but range from 4mm under the ball of the foot to 8mm under the heel. Those are the best approximations I can give you using a desk ruler. Also, the edges are higher- particularly where they form the heel cup which tops out at about 12mm on the outer edge. I have used these for years and bought many sets. They provide a lot of cushion for such a slim insole. If you need something even thinner, the Spenco Rx Comfort Insoles are very thin (about 2-3mm) and perfectly flat from heel to toe. They provide much less cushion, but are better than a typical stock insole and can be easily trimmed to fit if needed. Of course, keep in mind that neither of these provides any arch support. I use both in shoes when a full orthotic won't fit, but I want some cushion under a 3/4 orthotic insert. I hope that provides some help. Best of luck!

**Q: Is this sole thin enough for use in a formal shoe ?**
A: You must remove the original sole in whatever shoe you intend to use the Sof Sole. If you don't another reveiwer is correct when he stated that the shoe will be too tight. common sense.

**Q: is this a pair or just one sole?**
A: A pair.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good if you don't want arch support
*by O***6 on November 18, 2015*

I think these might be the only insoles I am able to wear. I ordered a Men's size 9-10.5 and they fit perfectly in my size 11-12 women's running sneakers. These insoles do not have any arch bumps or arch supports so I am able to wear them. Every time I try to buy insoles that have a bump or an arch it always hits me in the wrong place and of course is very, very uncomfortable and painful. If you have your own arch inserts that you like you may be able to combine them with these insoles. I would describe the insole as firm support but when you step on them you still feel firm cushion. As for thickness I don't think they are that thin, they are not as thick as a regular athletic insole but not paper thin, if you are looking for paper thin inserts or for inserts for women's high heels or another type of women's shoe or low profile sneakers that don't have a lot of room for your foot you may have to look elsewhere. They do make a women's size for size 8-11 shoes but I figured that one would be too small for me so I went for the men's one in an equivalent size (as I don't think it would fit my size 11-12 if its meant to fit a size 8). Even in running shoes that are very expensive they seem to use the cheapest insoles that never fit and never last, so these solve the problem. If you want them to feel a little softer you can take one of the dollar kind of inserts and put that over these. I tried these in my bearpaw boots and they didn't really feel comfortable so I will stick to using these in sneakers, so if you are looking for inserts to give Ugg's or bearpaw boots a little more support i don't think these will work for you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice cushion but not as thin as Id expect for ...
*by T***Z on August 25, 2017*

Nice cushion to soften a firm shoe (not a good replacement if you want soft to replace a soft shoe, will feel too firm) nice air holes in foot bed of it, but not as thin as Id expect from description, made shoe tight and pushed heel up too much for my comfort. (except in my brooks ghost 10, would firm that up nicely). My foot prefers the orig insole as this one somehow caused heel pain (weird they are soft) just not right for orig shape of my shoe. NOTE I tried this in a stability shoe a brooks adrenaline, I think Id of needed ultra thin model. I also tried it in my cumulus, it worked in it but the lumpy cushion in the cumulus shoe compounded the toe cushion and was a bit much for my toes. I ordered a size larger due to reviews (may not be right) ,and at first thought this is gonna be too big but with a little working it fit my shoe . I trimmed it about 1/8th to 1/4 around front / side edge it does feel a bit softer fitted correctly for length but still a cushy firm (I like that tho'). I think maybe a result of of ordering a size larger maybe put the ball of foot pad more under my toe joint, its noticeable, soft but noticeable. I cant say if not going up a size wouldve prevented this, perhaps if you dont mind returns try correct size first. I ended up using them in my snow boots feel great there. May use in previous mentioned shoes later on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Cushioning In Tight Spaces -- Easily Worth It To Be More Comfortable
*by J***S on August 2, 2015*

I'm amazed how much cushion you get out of such a thin insole. In most of my shoes I replace the OEM with either the Sorbothane UltraSole (w/o arch support) or the Sof Sole Airr Lightweight; so now I am uncomfortable if I don't have that level of cushion (a very "first world" kind of problem). However, both require a significant amount of extra clearance in order to fit right. I tried this "ultra thin" version of the Sof Sole recently in a pair of Patagonia Drifters that need to be pretty snug because they are meant (and used in my case) for hiking. They fit perfectly when swapped for the stock (read: cheap uncomfortable cardboard) insole and feel almost as good as the much thicker Airr or UltraSole. I have pretty low arches and avoid replacement insoles with more than very minimum arch support; so these are exactly what I needed in every respect. I am really impressed and they certainly exceeded my expectations for such a thin insole. One other discovery: if these are still a little too thick for your situation, the even thinner option is the Spenco Rx Comfort. One answer on its page says they are only 3/32" thick. They are also perfectly flat from heel to toe; so there are no bubbles, bumps or arch "golf balls" to make things tight in one particular area. They don't provide the cushion of this amazing "ultra thin" insole, but they help considerably while requiring the absolute minimum amount of clearance to fit. So between those two options I am able to "enhance" every shoe I wear regularly. When you consider how much you pay for quality shoes these days, the extra investment seems reasonable-- and if it encourages you to keep them longer because they are still comfortable, you actually save some money in the long run. So that's my observation and experience with these super thin alternatives to their much thicker big brothers-- exceptional cushioning in tight spaces and easily worth the $15 investment.
