The desktop came assembled with the lifting mechanism, so we only put together the legs and shelves. Even if you could configure the legs and shelves on the left (I’m not positive you could), the tabletop is fixed to the left. If you flipped the whole thing over, the holes for the screws and bolts would be on top. Not sure if that is the clearest explanation, but I hope it helps. **Q: What is the measurement of the piece of table behind the lifted part?** A: About 6.7 inches.
