Wood used is cedar which is naturally weather resistant. **Q: how does this attach to a tree or wall?** A: The screw provided in the back panel will screw into a tree, wall, or post. **Q: Where is this box made?** A: Don't know but I now have a dove family nesting contentedly in mine. So wherever it is made the birds do not seem to care. The male and female also seem to alternate in the nest. They do not have much room and I am watching to see if is large enough to care for their chicks. The doves previously made a nest that failed and left eggs abandoned. It was time to intervene and this well made nesting box worked perfectly. I got this to try & help them out with a safe place to sleep away from the owls & hawks in my backyard.While this IS on the smaller size, hopefully this will attract some of the displaced babies on my block as a secure place to 'bed down' thru the night.I have watched them while waiting for this, become "a lost little family of nothing-less-than-family-togetherness".Fingers are crossed for all to be reunited with mom&dad. If not, some are older and they all cozy up together everynite (in places that are just tooooo out in the open for 'beginners in life'. Holding my breath. Last Spring a Dove couple kept trying to build a nest on top of my porch light which fell off. Because I had nothing else I tacked a cardboard shoe box up which they used and raised a family.
