A: Direct Action is a trademark owned by Helikon, which makes its stuff in Poland. It's actually very well made, although not Berry Amendment compliant..

**Q: do the hip straps have the oprion to be hidden, zipped away or strapped off??**
A: The hip straps are removable. They actually aren't attached to the backpack when you get it in the box it's shipped in. Great piece of gear! Very glad I bought it.
