Review: Good Brand - Love this brand, good quality, my dogs enjoy it.
Review: Great, natural, affordable food. - Switched over to Diamond originally for our German Shepherd puppy. We had him on Blue Buffalo but the food was too rich and he always had runny #2's. He also had a lot of dandruff which we think may have been caused by a chicken allergy, which is very common. Since he did so well on it we decided to switch our cat over because it was very affordable. Our Bengal does not eat a lot so we keep the food in a sealed storage container. It keeps the food very fresh and for much longer, so if you have picky pets, ask yourself if you would eat stale month old food that has been sitting out lol. There are always people complaining about their dogs or cats having diarrhea. I really feel like people need to be more educated on how to switch to a new food as well as the time involved. 1) Every animal just like every person is different and some animals could eat a different brand and flavor every day and never have an upset stomach. Some do better with a changing, varied diet while others are better off with the same food and no interruptions. Age, breed, temperament, environment, and pretty much everything else you could think of all play a part. 2) Switching to a new food varies but it is usually suggested that the slower you acclimate them the better. Assuming I did not wait until the last minute and have planned for the change I will start by replacing 10% of the old food with the new food (rough estimate, I am not counting kibble) and then every day I will replace another 10%. Total acclimation of about 10 days, it's really not that hard so stop being lazy. If I notice my pet is not adjusting well or has an upset stomach I will generally go back to the previous day's mixture, when they were feeling well. 3) Even if you slowly acclimate them to a new food it can take a couple weeks for their stomachs to get back to normal. This is especially true with younger animals. I see people giving good foods 1 star reviews because their 10 week old puppy had diarrhea for a week...get real. Before you get the pitchforks out I am not saying that everyone should just ignore their pet that's having some stomach problems for four weeks. I am just saying I think there are a lot of nut-job pet owner's out there that claim a food is poison because their dog didn't do well on it. It takes time to adjust even if you do it right. In some cases it just doesn't work out, like my German Shepherd on Blue Buffalo. They have great quality food and I would still recommend them to people but for the couple puppies I have had on it, it seemed to be a little too rich/pure. They did better with the natural foods that had a little more filler like Diamond.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is Diamond Naturals dog food manufactured? Does any of it come from China?**
A: as per their website:Diamond Pet Foods owns its own manufacturing facilities. We have four plants, all located in the United States. Our original plant and home of Diamond Pet Foods headquarters is located in central Missouri. The other three plants are located in northern California, central California and South Carolina. No matter where you live, you will be purchasing food made in one of these three plants.

**Q: Would this be good food for a Pitbull terrier ?**
A: I have a Staffordshire bull terrier which is very close to a pitbull terrier. He just loves the lamb and rice food. And has no problems with it and I would recommend it to anyone who wants their pup to enjoy their food.

**Q: how does everyone feel about this brand of dog food? I havent seen any recent feedback I need feedback from 2014 Thanks,**
A: We have been feeding our 9 year old, 80+ lb yellow lab this food for over a year now. She is really sensitive to wheat and corn so we love that this food not only doesn't have that, but includes things that really benefit larger breeds. She digests it well and gobbles it up happily. Her weight is great (which was always an issue with other foods) and I like that it's made here in the US. We also love that it is affordable compared to so many of the grain-free foods out there I'd prefer to feed her. I feel like it's certainly the 'next best thing' because we can actually afford to buy it all of the time. We switch back and forth between the Large breed Lamb and Rice and the Large Breed Chicken and Rice simply because I think a varied diet is beneficial.

**Q: what is the fat and protein % ?**
A: I did a google search for the best dry dog foods. Diamona Lamb and Rice for adults was in the top 10. It has 23% protein and 14% fat. None of the other Diamond labels were mentioned. Most dry foods didn't make the list due to the corn and wheat that's in them that's not suppose to be good or any use to dogs. Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Diamond Lamb and Rice Dog Food Review
*by K***Y on September 11, 2025*

As a pet owner with a beagle who’s allergic to chicken, finding a suitable dog food was a challenge. Most brands sneak chicken into their formulas, but Diamond Lamb and Rice has been a game-changer. This chicken-free recipe is gentle on my beagle’s sensitive stomach, and he devours it with his usual gusto. Unlike other foods that trigger intense itching and hot ears due to his allergy, this one keeps those symptoms at bay. His coat remains glossy, and at his senior age, he’s still happy and energetic. I’ve been buying Diamond Lamb and Rice for a while now, and its consistent quality keeps my pup thriving. For anyone struggling to find a chicken-free dog food that’s both palatable and effective, I highly recommend this product. It’s a reliable, allergy-friendly choice that delivers.
