Quality Blu-Ray packed with great extras.

*by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2013*

If you want a movie review, then use IMDB or RottenTomatoes or any other movie/tv review site. For the movie itself, I enjoyed it. Otherwise I wouldn't be buying the movie in any format. If you haven't seen it, there are multiple ways to rent it. Including here on Amazon for rent.I will upload photos of the product I received from Amazon yesterday 1/4/2013. The product page that I purchased from showed an all black cover. But I got a cover with pictures on it. Again, check my uploaded images. I do not know why Amazon sells 2 versions for different prices and different product cover images. Yet I got the same cover as the more expensive version. Not sure what the barcode is for the other Amazon product. Internet searching and I could not confirm the existance of a Cellular on Blu-ray with an all black cover. For a more technical review of Blu-Rays, check out blu-ray.com. According to them the video transfer is a 4/5, and the audio is a 4/5. Which is great. They rated the extras as a 3.5/5, but I really feel it's closer to 4.5/5 or higher. As compared to other movie extras, this disc has a ton of extras. The only downside I see for the extras is that most of it is in SD and not HD. Which is fairly common, especially the older the movie. I would take off a half star for the lack of more HD extra content, but not worth a full star deduction. So a 5/5 it is for me. I do love the product.Barcode: 794043157745Video codec: MPEG-4 AVC , Video resolution: 1080pAspect ratio: 2.35:1 , Original aspect ratio: 2.39:1AudioEnglish: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz, 16-bit)Spanish: Dolby Digital 2.0Portuguese: Dolby Digital 2.0Subtitles: English SDH (SDH is a form of closed captioning as it includes sound effects), Spanish, PortugueseSDH stands for Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.Discs: 25GB Blu-ray Disc, Single disc (1 BD), Region freeThe Extras include 3 fairly long documentaries. All of which I enjoyed.Celling Out (SD 1.78:1 ratio) Documentary on cell phone technology. With lots of images and video of cell phones from 2004 and earlier. Which of course makes it look really dated. And is mostly pre-smartphone era. They talk about how smartphones will be the norm in the future. It is also pre-touchscreen phones. About 19 minutes.Dialing up Cellular (SD 1.78:1 ratio) Documentary making-of. Great footage about custom rigs and other events to making the movie. Over 25 minutes.3rd Documentary contains spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie. So I won't give any info. It's also good and about 27 minutes long.Other Extras include Commentary, Deleted Scenes in HD, and the HD Theatrical Trailer.I have tested all the features on both my PS3 and PC with software BD player. Subtitles and all features work as expected.NOTE: If you do not find my product reviews helpful. Please leave me a comment before marking my reviews as unhelpful. To give me a chance to address anything you feel needs to be addressed to make my reviews helpful. I too believe in helpful product reviews and would love the chance to update my reviews to address concerns.

    Keeps you in suspense throughout,

*by O***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2024*

Excellent thriller. Let's you forget all your troubles for an hour and a half. Well directed. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Too bad about the bad language although there's less in this in most others today. Will definitely see it again.

CELLULAR review written partway through a first viewing (call-us interruptus, or movie on-hold)

*by A***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2013*

At the moment this review was submitted, I was 24 minutes into a nerve-wracking crime film called CELLULAR (2004), a DVD I recently bought here at AMMY.The action in this one starts almost immediately. Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger), a HS science teacher, drops her 11-year-old son off at the school bus stop. She goes home and soon after, four thugs crash thru a door that's mostly window. Jessica's housekeeper is shot dead for trying to hit the alarm, and Martin's kidnapped. Brought to an unknown location and imprisoned in the attic, one of Jessica's captors, Jason Statham (as Ethan, the main bad guy) enters this makeshift cell with an axe. He smashes a wallphone that's behind terrifed Jessica, then leaves.Jessica fiddles with the wires of this wrecked phone and totally by chance reaches a young man named Ryan (Chris Evans) on his cellphone. At first Ryan doesn't believe her frantic story, but he's soon convinced and tried to help the victim. At the point I paused the film, Ryan had driven to the 11-year-old's school to try to find him before the kidnappers, who are using Jessica's SUV, can snatch the kid. His attempt fails. The crooks speed off with the child; Ryan follows in the school security guard's subcompact patrol car. During his pursuit on a crowded freeway and with Jessica listening over the phone, Ryan's forced off the road and into oncoming traffic. It's a very exciting sequence in a movie that promises a lot more action before the end credits. From what I've seen so far, I can definitely recommend CELLULAR. It's doubtful this one will leave you (or me) bored or sleepy. Also in the cast, Jessica Biel, Noah Emmerich (as an LAPD detective) and William H. Macy (as a desk sergeant).Rated 6.5 at IMDb.
