Not knowing what to get or what was out there, I bought a variety of different brands including ck, Homme and one other. Of about 6 similar briefs (low rise, similar cut), these are definitely my favorite and my girl friend loves them too.As for the "sling", I really wasn't sure what that meant and bought these but here's the deal: The sling is an elastic piece that hangs from the waist band and forms a loop. You put your "goods" inside the loop and it basically holds things away from between your legs. This prevents the family jewels from getting squished, perhaps keeping them a bit cooler and has a slight aesthetic effect by making the genitals stand out more.
