I would recommend to use it mainly for crafting though, as the burlap sheds easily (it is the nature of the material) and can leave you with a fairly large mess. I found it easy to dye for one of my projects, although there is some shrinkage and distortion of the fabric when using the boiling method with Rit Dye. I recommend measuring a larger amount than you need if you are dying it for something. I ordered a large amount for a number of projects. It cut very easily without having to use fabric specific scissors (I just used the run of the mill adult scissors, I think from Target, that are for everyday use). I also intend on using it for some sewing and painting related projects, since Autumn is upon us and calls for burlap. We will see how it fares with a sewing machine, but so far, hand stitching is fine.I would like to warn anyone that if you are dying the material using the stove method to be mindful of the shedding. It caused a very small amount of smoke as very small pieces fell near the flame. It was not enough to make the detectors sound, but I turned on the fan just to be safe as I did not want to wake the children as they slept. Overall, this is a good product, and I would recommend it over purchasing the small portions repeatedly at craft and hobby stores for projects. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Real burlap *by C***C on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 23, 2016* I got this to make a rustic tablecloth for my farmer's market booth. It looks really nice against my baskets and green produce and hides dirt well. This is good burlap and it's real burlap and it's pretty inexpensive for the amount.If you're looking at the negative reviews complaining about a moderate odor, an occasional run in the fabric, a line of greenish stitching at one end, etc - keep in mind that this is real burlap so a lot of that's to be expected.
