Keeps my overheating gaming laptop cool

*by B***A on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2015*

My gaming laptop has a known issue where the video card will cause the laptop to heat up to the touch, which also slows down it's performance drastically and if left unchecked will cause permanent damage/ computer failure. I've used lots of laptop cooling pads, most of which are just not as effective as they should be. At times I've even had to using a cooling pad from the freezer in an attempt to cool down this beast! Ugh... Well this vacuum cooling fan seems to be doing it's job pretty well. The temperatures it has been showing on the display are in the 30's and 40's. I haven't tested it out with any major video editing type jobs, but it has done great for light gaming. It comes with multiple rubber vent covers to direct the air through the fan and I found one to fit easily. My only complaints are:-The plate that attaches to the bottom of the fan to keep it in place doesn't hold it up as well as I think it should, it sags a bit like I need to put a support under it.-The display is in a foreign language and the instructions didn't give any indication on how to change it. There are only 2 modes: manual and auto, so it isn't difficult to navigate. I found that I had to put it in manual mode and turn it up to max. I didn't feel confident in it's cooling in auto mode.

    Melted, Not Safe

*by P***O on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2016*

I first bought a Hayata vent cooler for a Kangaroo desktop mini pc. It worked great, but was very loud.I read a bunch of reviews which suggested this fan as the quietest of its type. So I got it today.Immediately I was thrilled because I plugged it into my USB hub, and even on high, it was quieter than the Hayata fan. I decided to set it to "auto" mode, had the Kangaroo run a virus scan and walked away. When I came back, there was a stench of burning plastic which I initially attributed to rubber sleeve. But then I realized my usb hub was blinking and the fan was totally off. My Kangaroo was overheating. The power port in the fan was bulging, melted and smoking. After I unplugged it, it was a miracle the rest of my hardware survived. This POS is going back. But if someone can recommend a quieter fan, I would appreciate it.

This does not work with an HP Pavilion dv7 that has a battery with a raised lip.

*by J***U on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2015*

This product does not work on an HP Pavilion dv7, especially if you have a battery with a raised lip. In order for this product to work correctly the laptop or note book has to sit flat onto the desktop, for the flat piece of the product to slide underneath. There is no suction when using the rubber pieces which keeps the device pulled onto the laptop like a suction cup. the only way it might work on a raised laptop is to use adhesive on the underside of laptop, and maybe it can hold the device up from your desktop surface and stay on the laptop. I don't want to risk using adhesive on my laptop to hold it up.I would suggest to the manufacture that they make some kind of hooking pin from the device that can hook onto the vent of the laptop, so it can work on raised laptops or notebooks.
