If it doesn't behave as you want with your dip pen, clean and dry your nib and then rub it with gum Arabic. You can also add a few drops to the ink. This is a bright Christmas red! Like most inks, it will feather if your paper is poor quality. The other red that they offer is much darker. If you still have problems, make your own ink with gouache, distilled water and gum arabic.
