Review: GREAT GUIDE TO SET UP A BLOG - I ordered this book after looking at reviews for several books about how to set up blogs. I am a retired public school administrator with 33 years of experience in public education (20 of those years in public school administration). The Intro for the book defined what I'm trying to do.....stay in touch with my profession and share my professional views from my own experiences. I always am willing to learn but I can share more freely now without the day to day chores. The areas of this book outline how to set up your blog, find your voice, build your community of followers, etc. Many good ideas. A Blog is well defined and the book is filled with anecdotes to maintain your interest. We will all choose our own paths and message(s) but this book offers a good framework of what you are trying to do and how to get started as well as how to maintain and build. Many examples are provided and examples from top Bloggers with The Huffington Post online. Good Bloggers are known for being fact and reality checkers. Remember that this is a publication. Accountability is expected. I would also recommend that you read "Google Bomb" with this book. It's another book that emphasizes internet accountability and liability. These two books are my primary tools for commencing a Blog within the next 6-8 months. You also have to ask yourself if you want to affiliate and submit to others online or if you want to go your own route; in which case advertising also becomes an issue. It's all quite fascinating and I am enjoying it.
Review: Looking for Blogging Inspiration? - The Huffington Post blogging book does not quite live up to the title of "Complete Guide To..." However, I highly recommend anyone thinking about starting a blog to read this book as it is very inspirational. That is the big plus to this book. Before finishing this book you will want to pick up the bat and step the plate knowing you are about to hit one out of the park. The book is filled with useful hints, and one of the most useful is the section on "Finding Your Voice." One will also find plenty of useful ethical advice. As I was reading the book the question kept popping up - "Would I understand this if I were not a blogger or had not already moved through the problems of setting up a blog?" The Huffington authors do point potential blogger to sites where one can get up and running quickly. If one thinks they will be serious about blogging, then a book such as Lisa Sabin-Wilson's "WordPress for Dummies" is an excellent second book to read. Sabin-Wilson takes the reader through the nuts and bolts of setting up WordPress, one of the primary software tools for operating a blog. While specific to WordPress, the Sabin-Wilson book is the more complete guide. The Huffington Post book lacks an index. This is a big mistake for many readers who, when reading a book touted as a "Complete Guide," will be looking for specific information on a particular topic. Instructional books should contain an index. Twelve pages are devoted to Blogroll or links to other blog pages. Readers will find many interesting sites among this list. As expected, this book has a political and news slant, fully expected since the experiences come from Huffington Post bloggers. One can easily adapt their suggestions to a blog of your own choice with a little imagination. This book was to be a Christmas gift, but I could not wait a few weeks to read it. I did not put it down, so there you have my positive recommendation. This is a wonderful little book that will inspire you to take your interest/passion to the next level - the Internet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Huffington Post Blogging Guide
*by D***R on January 18, 2010*

One of my brilliant (if somewhat misguided) nephews suggested that I should start a blog. This is an excellent overview/introduction to the concept for someone who has never set foot into that world. The input from the perspectives of so many authors whose works I have enjoyed over the years was a particularly nice aspect for those of us who may be more receptive to the voice of experience rather than a strictly tutorial approach. I know I still have much to learn, but I am encouraged and am looking forward to learning more about blogging and the community surrounding it. I also found this very readable and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if the subject came up.
