Being a double coated dog, it's not often wise to shave down their fur, but thinning shears are the perfect way to get rid of a bit of the dense overcoat (without stripping them of their warming/cooling abilities). They are OK for this purpose. They often get stuck while trying to thin her coat.. I'm assuming that it's because they weren't created for dogs, but rather for human hair!
