confusing instructions - install before tank or faucet?

*by G***P on Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020*

Installed this on a non-Watts 4-stage RO system. The instructions say to put this after the filters but before the tank, it even tells you water can flow both ways through the filter (in and out of the tank). But Watts' website says to put it before the faucet, which contradicts the instructions sheet (and every other mineralization filter I've seen - and what everyone else here seems to be doing). But they never mention anything about the post-carbon filter. I called Watts and they said to go with the instructions. Putting it before the tank means that the mineralized water will then flow through the post-carbon filter afterwards. Not sure if that is good or bad for the post-carbon filter. It also means water now flows twice through the Watts filter (going into and then out of the tank) which might use the filter up faster. But on the other hand, maybe going through the post-carbon filter after helps the taste of the mineralized water. Either way I wish Watts was clearer about it. The water now tastes slightly different but so slight that you stop noticing after the first glass. Ph went from around 6.5 -7 without it to 7.5. Not a big difference.

Raised the pH from 6.4 to 7.8! No more acid reflux!

*by E***I on Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2017*

Using this as the final stage filter in our APEC ROES-50 reverse osmosis system. We used the RO system without the Watts filter for about 1 week. Believe it or not, after drinking our normal coffee brewed the same way, I experienced acid reflux out of the blue. Never had acid reflux before with our unfiltered water used to brew coffee. I knew that RO systems increase the acidity of the water, but I didn't think it would actually produce symptoms! So, we added the Watts filter in hopes of raising the pH of our filtered water. No more acid reflux after drinking coffee! Water tastes nice and neutral too, a very pure taste and great mouth feel. I also tested the water using an API dropper test kit. The pH went from a 6.4 (slightly acidic) to about a high 7 or even an 8.0 with the Watts filter (see attached pics)! Don't hesitate on this one.

    Worked! PH Back Up

*by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019*

For the longest time I debated over the constant use of RO water, being that it lowers the PH and becomes very acidic.I decided to add this filter between my RO Pressure Tank and Faucet head, in doing so it really bumped the PH up. The reading before filter was 5.1 through 5.5 (verified from a digital PH Meter). Post installation the Ph boosted to 10.8! I was pretty shocked by that much of a jump. After running a tank or two through the filter (my pressure tank holds about 2.5 gallons). The PH remained stable at 9ish. I decided to move another filter (Woder 10K-JG) after the Watts filter (to drop the PH). This worked well and now my readings are between 6.5 & 7.3.So that noted, please understand the proximities might have a factor on the increase of PH. If readings lower I will reverse the setup as overtime and use the filter will degrade the performance.
